Bought one of these today (was reminded I was planning to get a new box after seeing the Kane Williamson video!) so I'll report back in a week or so.

I just got the Aero box with shorts, it fits perfectly and barely feels like you are wearing one.  Got hit last nite at nets and hardly felt a thing!

To revive this thread, are they worth it? Or do the aero combination work just as well.

I was very happy with the Aero set up, and I have massive plums (I mean massive - think 2 canteloup melons in a string shopping bag).

Due to issues with the right thigh pad, I've got the Aero set-up, with Kook shorts and thigh pad over, and everything stays where it should.

You think the technology hasn't come along way?

Anyone recommending the old pink fiberglass ones from the 70s/80s?  :)   I remember watching a few opposition players and team mates pick the cracked pieces out of their jocks when they shattered. Eye Watering!

I am also thinking of a new style box and am interested if the shock doctors are worth the extra dollars. I remember as a lad playing that suicidal shot after the event.

my shock Dr box is the only piece of kit that I have had longer than I have been on this forum.

which suggests that in 4 1/2 years I have bought too much kit or that the box is the piece of equipment which has had the least research and development of all cricketing equipment.

The box is the piece of kit that is most likely to last the longest until it breaks. I still have one from almost 5 years ago (although I don't use it anymore). It is one of the most important pieces of kit but not many people treat it like it protects your manhood.

Comfortable for an hour or two. Small/ close fit. Once positioned you won't be forever adjusting yourself or grabbing your crotch like a smooth criminal. You can run really well with this. I think anyone other than a very slim man or youth should go for large or larger.

The kit badger in me demands I buy one of these immediately. My brain however is telling me that the house needs two new cars so I'm not allowed to spend!

I find that the box hangs out a bit loose on the pouch with aero shorts and moves when you run etc. leaving bits hanging out without you even realising which could be very painful. Hoping briefs and compression on top will be better.

Chris Lynn, who's currently playing in australia A and made his Australian T20 debut recently wears a titanium box after he had an extremely close call.

How do you know that?
