Glad to hear everyone is feeling in good touch. Anyone had any areas they have improved on? If so any specific exercises or drills that have helped you improve?

Only had one brief knock and that was over a month ago against those yellow indoor balls that swing round corners. Since then I've been struggling with a knee injury so I haven't been to any nets as I didn't want to put my running of the Brighton marathon in April at risk.

Hmm, going okay, not brilliant, first few sessions were brilliant from a batting point of view but they have been fairly crap for the past couple of weeks, bowling is going well though, consistent line and length and getting some ripping turn which is always good :)

Why do I always get out to the worst ball bowled in the innings? LOL

Had my best preseason net so far today  :) no play and misses and was seeing the ball really well off all the bowlers then in a rare attempt at bowling nearly managed to take our 1st team skippers head off with a cheeky edge of the matt bouncer!

Well, I managed to have my first net in 2 1/2 weeks today, quite happy with how it went, although I did get a few inside edges, it would seem I'm taking a step forward and then playing my shot!  Something to sort out on Tuesday!

Had my first 2 outdoor nets this weekend.

Both went pretty well apart from being hit in the chest by an 80mph bouncer.
Just need to work on getting my feet moving early on and a couple of other things in time for the season.

Had a 'net' tonight. Friggin cold! could hardly release the ball. Had a 10 minute bat in really bad light with some nice dark trees in the background. All in all, a pretty unproductive net.

On a better note, got to see a whole range of decent looking bats and softs brought over by Canners. Got to start saving i do think! If i was to stop smoking i would be able to buy one in no time

Disastrously.. first net last week with only 2 of us showing in freezing weather and intermittent spitting rain but got the bowling machine out and did well considering it was my first outing with 2 new bats and the woodstock felt so much better so very happy..then today, pouring down with rain and I went through the awful traffic from work to get there.. no show from anyone else so went through more traffic to get home...gutted as off on holiday for a week so missing next net session and first t20 match on the 21st against our biggest rivals so probably only one more net session.. hardly ideal preparation so far...

Few weeks ago we discovered grass killer had been applied to the majority of our square so now, a brown sorry looking square is what we have to look forward to. Yay

I don't know too much about who did it or why. It's pretty bad with like 6/9 wickets being done, first league game will be interesting. The weather will play a big part in the grass growth

Me too, can't be doing with playing on a dustbowl again. Our groundsman is, to put it politely, useless.

At a guess, i think you may have to possibly have to flood the square, try to wash out and dilute the grass killing solution used. Screed the whole square, re-seed the whole lot and fingers crossed the grass can grow and the poison used can be washed out.  Grass netting maybe be needed to stop birds from taking. The process can take about a month with decent weather and fertilizer.
