yes lol - but nobody in our division is stupid enough to let us have first hit on a decent batting track. Hoping next season we'll find our level and it won't as one sided.

agree its annoying when sides are playing below their actual ability - one of the problems with the current trend toward 10 team divisions and lots of depth, a la the Thames Valley which you know from yore is that a side that improves rapidly can take five years to get to the "right" level...

First team captain(2nd best batsman at club) along with his brother(best batsman at the club) were away along with several other first team players so I got called up to the first team. We had 10 players in the 1st team and 8 players in the 2nd's and despite the pitch being very wet and the groundsman saying there was no chance of playing on the pitch, the stand in captain decided we should play. We lost the toss and were put in to bat on the horrendous pitch, we ended up all out for 49(I got 0*) which they chased down for just the loss of two wickets.

Really fustrated, there was no way we were going to get a good game of cricket on that pitch so the stand in 1st team captain should have just called it off and sent all 2nd team players(like myself) he called up back to the 2nd's so they could have had 11 players and a decent game..

both games off today. 1s game had a a mushy outfield and greasy track. 2s game had a sodden track. Heavy shower at 10am did it, wasn't best pleased to see the sun for the rest of the day :-(

Awesome day allround today, playing for the 2's on a surprisingly good home wicket, we batted first and got 259-3 on the board against a fairly good opposition, I opened the batting and got 104*-my highest score of the season, was over the moon, the other opener got 72 and the rest got starts then got out, our bowling wasnt the greates but we managed to bowl them out for 223, alot closer than we would have liked, however extras scored highly! so it was partially down to our poor bowliing. Match tomorrow already cancelled though...balls!

Played today on what was a very very very slow pitch with no bounce at all! We were put in to bat and did ok on a poor track until one of our guys just hit out, he got 61 off about 30-40 balls with a few massive sixes. We ended on 160 odd for 5 off 50. They batted ok, needed about 6/7 an over in the last 20 with 6 down. In the last 5-7 overs the chance of winning had gone out the window. In the last over of the game I bowled a wider one and their little kid who must have been about 12 slashed at it and it went in the air quite a distance from our backward point. He then literally flew to his left and plucked it out the air one handed! Second best I've seen in a match I've playing in. The first was in the middle overs of today's game, batsmen nicked it and it flew off the edge to our 'experienced' slip fielder. No body movement at all, arm flew up and somehow the ball had stuck. Unbelievable stuff. I ended with good figures of 10.4-5-15-3. Great win for us considering other teams in the league wouldn't have been playing.

Having spent the whole of yesterday in an Edgbaston pub at the rained out test I was pretty sure (and praying!) the game would be rained off today! Turned out well in the end though, we got stuck in on slow pitch and got 234-6. I made 43 before getting caught on the boundary. We then bowled them out for 97. Maximum points and back to back wins. Looking forward to next week  :D

Called off yesterday, but the pitch today was marginal for a home match. No play which is very frustrating as we've played two in six thanks to the weather...

Anyone got a stick of rhubarb and decent bowling spell I can have please?

Got triggered batting, massive stride batting out of my crease hit me on the top hat/thigh pad outside the line, and bowled like i was bowling a piece of soap.

Dropped down from 1sts to skipper 2nd team at beginning of season. Been reasonably happy with personal performance when bowling, but struggling with the bat.  Keep hitting a couple of boundaries early on, and then getting out cheaply
 .
Team wise, on paper we have a team that should be pushing for top 3 - in reality we have been struggling with availability and missing both bowlers and batters.
First time I've skippered so it's a good learning curve, but not much fun chasing 250+  runs every game.

Played yesterday resurrected an old track. Pitch was really soft at one end as tops had blown of covers.
Lost toss & inserted I managed to see off opening bowler before facing other opener & hit low full toss straight to cover off the toe.
We managed to get 210-8 opposition all out for about 80.

Played 3 matches this weekend. League match on Saturday, t20 this morning and a 40 over friendly match today. On Saturday I got 2-30 off 8 overs after getting the two openers, I don't know why I got taken off as I was the most economical bowler and had all the teams wicket's but the captain made his decision so I got on with the match. We bowled them out for 203 with one of the batsmen who must've been around 13 getting 30 odd. Then I had to bat at 11 which annoyed me as I know I'm definitely not a number 11 and ended up with 0* after being bowled out for 91.

Then this morning on a low scoring pitch with a lot of low bounce I opened the batting and got 37 but I didn't bat well as I was to slow and wasn't middling the ball, I got out lbw trying to flick the ball into the leg side, the ball hit me on my back leg thigh it could've been clipping the bails but it was very close.

Then in today's Friendly match I got 3-19 off 7 overs with an amazing one handed catch on the boundary by one of our guys to get the best batsmen out. Then to my surprise I was aloud to open the batting which I have never done in senior cricket. Chasing 138 I got my first ever 50 batting through the innings ending up on 59* off around 100 balls, hopefully now I've proven that I am a capable batsmen I'll get to bat higher in league cricket on Saturdays. I was definitely in the zone as I played and missed only one ball and edged one short ball for 4.

Yesterday called off, today first game in 2 weeks. Bowled first, they were 49-0 off 6! I came on, got 2 wickets in my 2nd over, still managed to take 242 off us! 10-0-38-3, decent figures. Batting looked okay at 80-1, cue a big collapse, came in at 11 and hit 6 before taking on an ambitious single! Managed to double my average for the season though... Awkward!

Boring game for me yesterday. I got called up to the 2's to play against St. John's Billericay as the other keeper is injured. We bowled first on a damp pitch and bowled them out for 53 in 30 overs. Nothing for me to do behind the stumps except wear a few from the uneven bounce.

Didn't bat as the runs were knocked off 1 down in 12 overs.

Got back to the club to find out the 3's(which I normally captain) had been bowled out for 95 by Little Baddow. When I arrived the oppo were about 60 for 2. Baddow always looked comfortable, but a quick flurry of wickets shook them. Little Baddow were still looking good for the win but they were bowled out for 94!!!!

Was a top fight back but there were some harsh words spoken in the changing room after
