You could argue that we weren't much better in that we let ourselves get bogged down and they're under no obligation to make life easy for us.  But when you have a fielder dropping deep every time a shot is played it does seem silly to then sledge the batsman for being negative!

Played Charlie-15 at the weekend, low scoring would be an understatment! We were 14/4 at one point! I'd love to say I helped but my Boycott'esque 8 from 38 balls (I maintain I was slowing the game down!) probably didn't help that much.....

Good game though Charlie and a rather nice piece of willow (Shark) you have there. See you in the return fixture

Just to add insult to injury, the scorer has me down as 0 at the weekend

Managed to get in 2 games this weekend.

Saturdays game, home to Ferndown Wayfarers. They managed to knock up 172-6 from their 50 overs, with Eric Linge (http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/296815.html) scoring a fairly impressive 50. We then knocked them off in 34 overs for the loss of only 4 wickets, I was scheduled to come in next, and didn't bowl. Still happy for a team win though! :D And here's a scorecard for the game - http://dorchester.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/scorecard.asp?id=11469896

Sundays game, home to Mere, completely different story, we bowled first and got them all out for 61, a pitch that was seaming here there and everywhere. Then opened the batting for the first time for my sunday team in a while, and got adjudged to be caught behind, when I got beat by an absolute jaffa! So recorded my first duck of the season, having only faced 2 balls. And we were bowled all out for 21. With 10 ducks in the whole game. And i'm still wicketless for the season! :(

Eric is a great bloke, plays hard and fair, he knows when to turn on the flare. Those green shoes are beauts!

We played Christchurch on Saturday, Won the toss and elected to bat. An average start for the team, I went in at 5 this week and got a golden!
Given out LBW, and I'm still 99% certain I hit it! I wasn't best pleased. Didn't bowl either, and I'm not sure why, the last few games of last year I was opening the bowling!

Sunday was a farce.
Bournemouth, (The biggest club in the Dorset leagues) pulled out of the game 2 hours before the start.
I've never known that from anyone. The teas were made by the mother in law, had to call all the players nursing sore heads from the night before from one of our boys birthdays.
Alright we get 20 points from it but thats not the point being made here. They will now get: 40 points deducted, which at the moment leaves them on minus 33 points! The will get a £30 fine from the league and have to pay us for Pitch preparation and teas that were made.
I can't say I was best pleased.

don't blame you. Win or lose you always want to play. We had the same thing with Leeds Trinity Uni, never even showed or apologised. They even checked 45 mins before the game to see it was on and just didn't show. I am now chasing them for compensation, I've even tried to arrange more games to offset the cost but they don't care.

A similar thing happened with our 1's yesterday. They turned up to their game to find out that the team they were due to play had double booked and they'd travelled for nothing.

I had quite a bad day Saturday. I lost the toss and we were put in to bat. I then proceeded to be bowled first ball of the game, which didn't bounce more than an inch. We eventually set them 154.

My day then got worse as 5 of our fielders were less than interested, especially the other keeper so I let him take over the gloves after about 10 overs and I then dropped 2 dollys.

At drinks they were 88 without loss. So I had a little bit of a rant at the team to up there game and it worked. The visitors went from 88-0 to 120 all out.

My old man has been at it again with his bloody flat tracks. If you are a batsman then go and play at Marlow lol

Thursday - 299 v 300-6 (45 overs each)
Saturday - 339-3 (42 overs) v 275-9 (58 overs)

That was on the pitch he re-used from the previous weekend - 3 days cricket by the Saturday. Sunday he went for a different track for the minor counties game and Staffs got 235, Bucks did it for 5 (should've been 2 but they mucked around slogging the final few runs when they had loads of time).

He says he just cuts and rolls it!.

You didn't bat badly and did exactly what you guys needed at the time! It was the 1 ball you bowled that I found amusing!!!

Got a Hatrick today in a t20 and it was very nearly a double hatrick as I just missed the edge of the the guy batting by around an inch. Other than the hatrick over I bowled pretty badly and got 3-28 off 4 overs with 1 dropped catch. Went out to open and got 2 runs before being clean bowled by a decent late swinging inswinger. I'm having a problem this season with inswinging deliverys on a good to full length on the stumps and have been bowled 3 times by delivery's like this.

I suffered from the old classic 6 and out yesterday. Was on about 3 or 4 and received a fell toss on leg stump which I hit over the longest boundary on the ground for 6, then the next ball was exactly the same and was caught by the man on the mid wicket boundary! Lost by 3 wickets in the end after hitting 184. Ex-Glouscester pro Tim Hancock smashed a brilliant 79 for the oppo

Got back Saturday morning for the weekend so went up and watched the game. Tim is just class our 3 and 4 getting ducks didn't help though. Got a bit close in the end, but our 1s look quite strong this year.

Ended up playing a game on Sunday, hit 77 and got 2 wickets.  Good weekend for the club all the senior sides won!

play the on or straight drive ......... im having a similar issue but its hitting my pad and then hitting the stump. Im trying to wrok it through mid wicket with a straight leg and it isnt working.

Playing straight should sort it out.

This did help me tonight in the nets and I didn't get out bowled or lbw but I think some of it is simply down to match nerves and the added pressure of being out in the middle especially when opening as the ball is swinging alot more.

First Saturday match of the season and we had ten men. Having been put in the field, we held them to 132 for 9 off their 46 overs. I ended up with figures of 12-2-14-3.

Then we batted. One of our openers retired on 52 as he had to leave and then no one else rose to the occasion. IWent in at 9, the guy at the other end got bowled and after the new batsman had faced four balls I realised I would have to have a go. Sadly this meant misfiring a shortish one back to the bowler. A stupid shot when we had a slim chance of winning. Very angry with myself
