« on: March 28, 2012, 09:57:19 AM »

Anyone got these brand of sunnies??? Usually an Oakley man but fell upon the site today and a lot of their cricket gigs look similar to what is normally buy for playing in and the lifestyle gigs also look pretty good. No prices etc but they offer polarized lenses with a lot of designs
What is your opinion on the brand, quality, prices (if known) and experience of using them.

Nixon had them on earlier in the week, it looked like quite a few of the guys were snapping them up at bargain prices.

I'm on Oakley man too Liam. Expensive but well worth the money. Haven't personally used sunwise, though tried a pair on in a shop the other week.

I think they'd do a job plus you wouldn't cry too much if you left them in an away changing room, or if your 2 year old decided to try and bend them in half

Sunwise are excellent.  I had a couple of pairs a few years ago that served me well and I've just ordered another 3 pairs from Carl at Nixon; great quality for the price. I've had Oakleys as well but don't think they warrant the huge price difference personally.

I think Im going to buy some shipwreck for casual, driving etc and the equinox for matches, golf etc. See how they go, both pairs for less than £60 at the moment so well priced

I'm quite tempted by some of these but always thought wearing sunglasses to play cricket was a bit poncey. I also sweat a lot when fielding so I'd think that the lenses would fog up. Is there a trick to stop this, I've seen some glasses with vented lenses that claim to help with this but they usually cost loads.

Never had lenses fog as generally if its sunny enough to need shades, generally the lenses are warm enough not to fog.

Optically, oakleys are definitely better.

You can't really tell until you are in bright sunlight. The Oakley lenses are better at reducing glare and just seem clearer. First got some in Vegas 12 years ago and the difference was incredible.

I have never tried sunwise but I have to agree with Tim2000s here, oakleys all the way mate. I have purchased a lot of sunglasses but there was always something that was not right, then I got my first pair of oakleys 4 years ago and they are absolutely fantastic..

I use them for cricket and normal wear i have the flak jacket xlz, absolutely perfect,,,also if you take care of them they last a long time...

I'd also look at Bloc glasses. I've got a pair that are amazing!

Been using my Sunwise Windrush glasses with the Yellow Light Enhancing lenses for the last week while cycling to and from work.

I have to say that they have proven to be pretty good for this usage. The Windrush shape is very effective at keeping rubbish and wind out of the eyes and the Yellow lenses really cause things to glow, especially red lights (I am riding at just after sunrise, so not full daylight). I suspect that as the light dies on a cricket pitch they will help in that level of light too.

All in all, at the price, an excellent set of glasses for cycling!
