RPs bat
« on: April 23, 2012, 10:36:19 AM »

Just saw picture of RP with his bat. Most of us on this forum (possibly including myself) will never buy this bat if it had the "Players" or "1000" stickers on it even though it is good enough for RP to use. From what i have read RP is very choosy about his willow and makers sure he has the best. He is notorious for going through his team mates bags inspecting their willow.

I have seen quite a few Kookaburra Kahuna bats this year and some of the Players bats are no better than a 1000 or 800 (in some cases even a 600) edition bat. Wonder how the grading is done.

Saw one in Somerset County Sports last week. It's up for sale at £500. If anyone buys it at that price they'll be a more than a fool.

I picked up a couple low grade kahuna and the difference was negligible. The grains were tight and even but nothing astounding. The ping must be out of this world as it wasn't much different in size or profile than the £130 bats

The thing is, many many people do. It is a massively popular bat in Australia, fair to say one of, if not the best selling bat. And the reason is purely because they see Ponting use it and they want to be like him. Sponsorship certainly works!

Hate to burst the RP bubble here but the reason Kookaburra are so popular today is because of Dean Jones all them years ago... He is the reason why everyone wanted a Kookaburra and it's just kept on a'rollin.... Ponting has just picked up the Jones slops
