Everyone's struggling to score runs early in the season with the ball swinging around all over the place, yet Compton has stood out and played superbly.  He'd be my shout at the moment, though he's South African born as well is he not?

josh Cobb to get called up and play a T20 for England.

He smashes it and bowls tidy offies and has started the season well

Erm, he bowls leggies...

Look at the Lions squad from the winter.
Any uncapped player in that with a respectable report would be my guess.

If we start on the basis that a player is making their debut only in that format of the game, I'd be tempted to say Ben Stokes in Tests - no, I don't think he is anything like the sixth best batsman in England right now, nor am I in any way sure that his bowling is going to be of the required standard, but it seems pretty clear that for England to progress they need a batsman who bowls something a little more useful than Trott or Bell's rank medium pace, and Stokes is certainly the kind of player who has the tools.  (Personally, I'd prefer them to play their best five bowlers and accept that Bresnan, Rashid, Broad and Swann between them would make up enough runs in 99% of matches!)

In one dayers,  I could see Jason Roy getting a go.  I could also see an argument for James Harris there.

Maynard before Roy imo, unless flaky temperaments are genetic

possible, yeah.  Both have the key advantage of playing their cricket in the capital!

Can't see many young bowlers getting a look in as our current crop are all in pretty good nick, Root should get ago against the windies and Taylor a better go in ODI's. Compton has been a prolific batsman over the past 2 or so years but I don't think he is a test match batsman. I think the selectors want a Flintoff type player to bat at 6 as it opens up far more options with team selection. Stokes fits the bill but was unlucky with injuries.

Maynard, Hamilton-Brown - from a Surrey perspective could both do a job a nos 6 - R H-B also bowls some filthy off spin. Hildredth is averaging over 100 this season so far too.

lots of bowlers?

Roy can't get a game for Surrey at the moment
