Well it's on it's way to Dean and I'm sure he'll do the best he can.. it'll certainly be a challenge. It's the best bat I've owned so far in terms of pick-up, weight and how it feels off the middle both with bola and real cricket balls. Even if it doesn't last the season which I hope it does and beyond, I think it's worth a go repairing so thanks again to Dean at Vulcan and everyone on the forum for their advice. Will post photos on return so you can admire his work.

Do dowels affect the bat in any way e.g. add a bit of weight to the toe? Does anyone currently use a bat with a dowel in the toe? How long has it lasted?

My match bat had a dowel in it all last season and scored me 800+ runs so will def keep your bat alive and performing

Sadly I don't think that will last even with a dowel or 2, you would be better off fitting an inch deep toe insert than a dowel and giving it the GN resin toe wrap which looks dreadful but might be the only way to hold it together. If you just glue and dowel you might find that it breaks again first time out and that would be a waste of your money and Vulcan's time.

Well.. I received my bat back from Dean at Vulcan today and it is a thing of beauty with his custom stickers. You'll find photos of the repair so I'm hoping the glue and tape will do the job for the rest of this season and beyond...
Once again thanks to Dean for his comms and customer service as well as doing the work for free as I know he's a busy man.. a true gentleman...

You can see the before and after pics and I'll be taking the bat to show off in nets tomorrow...
