Pretty much echoing what has been said previously, but the way I would repair this would be:

- Over the damaged area in glue, ensuring plenty has seeped into the visable crack.
- Using a g-clamp, lightly clamp the area (approximately 75% closed)
- Using a vice (if available), clamp the bat together to ensure the repair is 'straight'
- Completely close the crack by securing the G-Clamp.
- Using 6mm hardwood dowel, insert 2 -3 sections for extra strength
- A layer of bat tape and a scuff sheet to finish!

honestly youve done a good job there mate, i did one a month back and its still going strong! he's using his as a match bat and scored about 150 odd runs with it so far.

Thanks Mike, never dowelled something before so didn't really want to risk it with someone else's bat. Hoping that it will hold together and I won't have to do it again in a few weeks lol

What sort of split would need dowelling? Something running up the bat and split through maybe?

Well your bat had lift, rather than split so the dowell is purely a re enforcement which would be needed with a split but would not aid a lift. It would also deaden the area and so you often only see them in the toe in pairs as this adds stength whilst not ruining a playing area, the dead spot from dowells goes across the centre on the blade from the edge.
