There is abt 1200 members on here, few hundred on other forums...there are over 6 billion ppl in the world...even if 1.5 billion played cricket we are all still a very very very small minority...and there are very few ppl outside of forums who care abt who made the bat...

No i am genuinely interested in knowing who made my bat if its made in the UK, why? because i have some favorites like most do...but before i joined here it was based on what brands i trusted and not who their bat maker was/is

Exactly, it is about what brands you trust not their specific batmaker...and by all means I can understand that some people want to buy from specific batmakers. But in that case, go direct to the batmaker.

What we are about at Blenheim is supplying good bats. I really hope everyone who gets a Blenheim is really happy with it - I think they should be! And hopefully over time we'll build a reputation for supplying good bats.

And in case you're wondering Pedals (as I think you hinted at), no we don't have a batmaker who is unique to Blenheim! But then we only do 75 bats a year, so we can hardly justify a full-time shaper...

I do find it incredible to think that anyone could say that it doesn't matter who makes the bat YOUR paying for! It does matter and I think I am probably NOT in the minority...

I'm in the minority with you buddy!

That wasn't so difficult to answer was it  ;)

I'm sure every bat you sell is awesome ,It just would have been nice for you to say this in the first place.

And trust me, it does matter who makes the bats I buy and it matters to the majority of people on this forum.........I buy certain brands because I trust them, I steer clear of other brands because I don't trust them. I may be right or wrong in my thoughts about these brands but that's up to me not you. If I don't know where the bats come from I can't make an educated decision on the product. Seeing as how, by your own admission, you are in your infancy as a brand you haven't built up any trust as yet with me because I know nothing about you. That doesn't mean that you're not going to in the future of course but I need something to go on so I want to know who is making your bats......that makes sense doesn't it?  :)

I don't recall Blenheim ever claiming to make their own bats. They sub-contract just like many other brands. Nothing wrong with that. The product still goes out the door with their livery on it, so it's in their interests to ensure the quality is up to scratch, otherwise it's them that suffers NOT batmaker X

I don't recall, until now, them ever claiming they didn't either.......

I don't recall, until now, them ever claiming they didn't either.......

Blenheim Cricket was founded in 2011 by 3 students at Cambridge University. Two of us have played First-Class cricket for Cambridge in the Varsity Match and played for Cambridge MCCU, while the third has also represented the Blues. In 2011 we provided hand made bats, produced near Cambridge. For the 2012 season we have expanded our range to incorporate pads, gloves, keeping gear and bags.

Could have changed since then, but they never said they made them.

I have a Cambridge, and I have been a bit slack with putting up a review, but it is a fantastic bat, nice pick up, taps up brilliantly and is a nice size for it's weight. I was also very lucky with the price as had it not been a sample shape for the 2012 season, and if it didn't have last years stickers on it, it would have easily been sold for the same price as the bats here, but I was very lucky. I am very impressed with it and will chuck my review up soon :D.

If its any reassurance to the badgers, I know who makes their bats, and they are about as reputable as they come. The guys visited lots of batmakers personally before deciding on the right one for their brand. Over the last ten years I've had Warsop, Hunts, GM, Bellingham & Smith, Newbery, and the Blenheims are as good as any bat I've had - better in most cases. No-one would try to build a brand with shoddy bats at the heart of it, least of all proper cricketers, and decent blokes.

I have to agree with Pedals, on this forum we do care who has made the bat.  As many on this forum I bats because of who made them, knowing that my H4L is made by Matt, or my Laver is made by James and so on..makes all the difference

I do like the look of the Blenheim bats and living in a part of a small Oxfordshire village which on many OS maps is called Blenheim, I feel a strange sort of affinity to your company.  But I would not buy your bat unless I knew who and where it was made.

It may be to your advantage to add a sticker to your bats, saying "this bat was hand crafted for Blenheim by master bat maker.........................".

then I would put my hand in my pocket

Or you could call them up and have an off the record conversation about who makes the bats as the batmaker may not want it publicly displayed...

I think there is no doubt that on this forum people care who makes bats, but the vast majority of cricketers don't care. This is exemplified by the bulk of bat sales coming from the major brands who use multiple bat makers/machines.

Thankfully (for us at least!) though, most cricketers aren't big enough badgers to care - perhaps because the majority of individuals just buy a bat on the basis of how it feels and goes. To be entirely honest our target market isn't people who specifically want a bat made by person X. Because if that's what they want they should just go direct to person X. Instead we want to build a brand that provides great quality gear and is renowned for doing so.

Now returning to this topic - if you've got any interest in either of these two sticks let me know. They're both fantastic looking, with great profiles, so I'm sure they'll make the owner pretty chuffed...

Tim your right as always, just thought it might be a good bit of marketing.

To keep this on topic I have started a new one to discuss the above elsewhere

This Viceroy still hasn't sold - it is such a blade! Will drop the price to £225 posted, a bargain given the look and size of this piece of willow.

The weight is the only thing holding me back as it does look like a beast. Absolutely love the Cambridge I have (shame I won't get to use it until the end of November at the earliest).
