Long Handle Bat.
« on: May 15, 2012, 07:59:03 PM »

I've been told by my coach that I need a Long Handle bat.  :D Who wouldn't turn down the prospect of a new bat.
Does anybody know if Gray Nicolls do Long Handle bats.
If not who does good ones and can they be in the 2.9 weight range.

Ollie, you don't need a long handle bat - you're not tall enough!

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a long handled bat?
Is it mainly for really tall people or can anyone gain an advantage by using one?

Ollie, can't see why you'd need one. I'm taller than you an I'm fine with SH

Also, don't worry about any money for that grip

I got a Long Handled GN because I believed I needed it due to my height(6'3), I hardly use it anymore because I find it difficult to control shots using a long handle(most likely due to my poor technique). How tall are you cheese? Also have you thought about getting a long bladed bat? Think that is what I'll do when the time comes to get a new one.

Cheers Liam.
I din't think i needed one. I might just go to a cricket shop and look at bats and see if a differant S.H suits me.
About 4 people at my match tonight said i needed a bigger bat...
A tad confused.
I've looked at size guides and they all conradict each other...

He's not really a coach, but Mr. farrow from Colfox.
He knows what he is talking about.

How tall are you? I'm 6'5" and have a range including LB, LHLB and SH. I can use any of them. According to the Laver sizing chart, unless you are over 5'11" you will be fine with a SH.

They reckon <5'11" SH
5'11"-6'1" LBSH
6'2"-6'4" LH
>6'4" LBLH

Right. Question is, are you uncomfortable with your SH oblivion?

You looked fine with it in Sunday and it felt fine for me when i had a few throwdowns with it
