Kit Watch!
« on: May 20, 2012, 07:31:12 PM »

Well village first rounds were today. We had long lee cc. An Ayrtek lid and a fatbat on show from the oppo. We were very very poor but pulled it together and got the job done. How did everyone else get on

Inspired by the above post I thought it would be quite a nice idea to have a thread where we can report spottings of forum brands.

I guess this might go some way to show the success of the brands as it proves that they've managed to penetrate the market beyond the forum kit geeks!

I'll start with my match v. Garstang yesterday. For starters the team were smartly turned out in teamwear from Lukeys Sports. One of their opening batsmen also had Lukeys bat and softs (perhaps not so surprising given that Lukeys is local to here)

Also on show was a Hell4Leather 666 being used by their number 3. Looked a lovely stick, though was less impressed with the batsmen wielding it!

Got launched for 6 back over my own head by a guy with a H4L last season and got one smashed over my own head for 4 yesterday by a guy using a Laver & Wood. Yet to see any forum brand protection being worn however. Think I play at a bit too lower standard to see Ayrtek helmets coming out..

All very dull from our opponents yesterday although one guy did pretty well with an ancient DF Magnum!

Fair few of our guys have some Ayrtek gear now what with us being Bristol based. Sadly for Tom our man with the Elite bundle could only muster a second ball duck!

I went to watch pw in the village today, was nice to see fatbats being used. Only ayrtek lids I've seen are the 3 in our club lol but the season is still young...im sure we'll spot more as the season progresses.

Last week we played against Leicester Ivanhoe and the opening batsman Leicestershire under 14's captain was using Aldred kit, must say he was very good scoring 41 in a low scoring game again to very good bowlers

Played against a guy the other week in Surrey Championship Division Two, and a number 9, walked in with a Joker, Vulcan gloves from like 2011, Vantage Volt Pads and an Ayrtek Premier... He was quite cocky earlier on in the field... And ironically first ball sprinted down the track, played and miss, I took an easy stumping, so he then called me a (No Swearing Please), and marched off...

Once saw an Chase at indoor practice.

Ca_Gold has H4L which I saw in Canada.

Was watching a T20 last Tuesday and one guy was smacking sixes with ease, saw his bat was Laver & Wood.

Not surprising given their location... Don't know if it's still the case but there were a couple of sports shops in Portsmouth and Southampton that used to give a decent discount to local clubs (including ours) and who stocked a lot of chase gear. We had a fair old number of users.
