Unlucky or just poor quality?
« on: May 23, 2012, 12:46:07 PM »

After getting a scoop for my birthday in February, I have spent a great deal of time preparing it for the summer. Must have done quite a few hours of knocking in, paying particular attention to the edges and toe. I've used it in multiple nets, building up from old balls to brand new cherries. Not one problem bar a fine outside edge the tore a bit off the scuff sheet. No big deal. First chance to use it in a game last Saturday. Spinner on. First ball get a really fine inside edge on the ball. Look down and there's a crack on the edge, just above the toe. Nearly broke down in tears.

Neither, these things happen all the time, what's the problem?, bats are for batting and so will get damaged.

But the speed that the ball was going (no more than 40mph) and the fact that I barely hit it just surprised me. I've dug out Yorkers and not a sign of damage.

Edges are a weak point, and these bats are shaped with very flat edges so damage will show far easier, if it is still playable what's the worry?

I'm just a worrier. It's still playable just never had damage happen that easily before.
