Busted Salix Pod
« on: June 05, 2012, 08:02:03 AM »

Made the mistake lending my beloved Salix Pod to a team mate in a match. He's only gone and bust it! Large splits either side of the splice. Will probably take to Hawk as they up the road from me and they did a great job on repairing the toe. Or I'll send to Salix and get re-stickered. Repairable or had it, what do you think?

repairable, but it wont ever be the same, once the shoulder goes like that, they get a bit more "springy" some people like this more. I have a salix with a big crack down the side a bit like that I have pinned it and its ok - but its not the same..

Yes can't see how it can be as strong as before. Particularly gutted as this is the actual bat Andy Kember made in the Salix video.

Hahahaaa!!

This is exactly what happened to my salix on Saturday!!! Only faced 12 balls and saw a crack appearing so I changed my bat straight away!

Any consolation it would of happened anyway. One possible reason is the binding around the handle wasn't strong enough.

Totally repairable. Hunts repaired an insignia for me and it went like a train after, basically a rehandle and glue. Ryan had something similar done by warrior that involved cutting the handle and cracked area out.

Should I send my bat to Salix for it to be repaired or use someone else?

My salix broke in exactly the same place and judging by the comments it's common in them. Send it back to salix to get it done with the stickers

Looks like stress caused in the shoulders of the bat by the handle splice being slightly too large for the hole into which it fits.

I had similar problems with both my salix bats, had one paid repair (on a 4 year old bat) the other two were FoC and a discount on a new bat for when it eventually breaks. Send them an e-mail and see what they think.

my experience with Salix on damage/repairs they have been excellent offering discount on another purchase or a foc repair.
if the bat is under a year old im sure they will sort this out.
they are very helpful there and customer service is excellent

Took it to Hawk to have a look at today. They said its had it! Could do a repair but no guarentee how long it could last. Said might last a season or might break first time you use it. Its about 4 years old so I can't see Salix doing anything either. Probably best to put my money towards a new bat.
