To be fair the umpire was right, it's just annoying that he hasn't been consistent and called it every ball like it should be. I don't see why a test bowler is still hitting the stumps over, it should be coached out of him.

The umpire 'may' call, not 'should' call dead ball.

Surely has to call no ball each time otherwise as batsman will claim distracted when out, but surely can't pick + choose by hitting other balls for four + it not be distracting.

I can only think that the rule will have to be revisited. Either it's a dead ball or not.

Seems the South Africans have been a bit rum about it. Clever by them, but not in the spirit of the game. It hasn't been a problem for anyone else in works cricket, but I guess now the whole world will complain about it.

At this level I think Smith was correct to ask about it as it cant keep happening all day.. Finn should be able to bowl 5cm to the left...

Going to get interesting if Smith keeps hitting 4's off dead ball calls.

The BAS stickers on Petersens bat look very classy!

There is something very asthetically pleasing about a clean white bat with no cherries on it.

Thats a great start for the Saffers. At Headingly with these conditions England should have made some inroads especially with the movement they are getting.

Believe it or not, I predicted that they would get off to a good start then lose 3 wickets cheaply to be left at around 153 for 3. Mind you, I thought Amla would still be in! :s

Just driving through headingley and it feels a bit humid. Might be some more wickets tonight. Headingley cc are getting loads of new friends on Twitter. They think we are the actual ground lol
