All this talk of GN bats has made me go into the garage and pull out my Megapower.... 'richie benaud' edition.
Probably the only one in existence! The sticker was applied for fust a bit of fun about 20 years ago and a tribute to the greatest man ever to commentate on cricket!
Got me quite a few runs in the late 80's this bat did.
I was inspired by Robin Smith as most of us were at the time. It was cheaper than an elite too!
Enjoy the pics

Is it only the old Powerbow that people like? No fans of the new one?

As for my two cents, I had an Evo Extreme last year, and it was an absolute beast, lovely bat - proved to be just a bit too heavy for me in the end though, so it had to go.  I really liked the stickers on the Evo, too - shame GN dropped it for 2012...

I reckon that benaud beast may need re-stringing there pedaloboy!  ;)

Paul - I think that most people still love the older powerbow but I must admit, this season's powerbow has gone back to a better profile after a couple of funny years!

It was more squared off at the top than the Newbery Excalibur. The GN from memory looked more like the current Willostix Stick. There was a similar shoulderless bat bat called the 'super bomber' - Hunts??

The WG was reference to WG Grace; the shape was a 19th Century shape. The Hunts County bat with the sloping shoulders was the Calypso

My first ever bat was a Dynadrive. The progressed onto my dads 1980's Powerspot(which i still have in the garage as i'm afraid it will break!!) then bought a longbow. Think i'm about ready for a new one. Was hoping the powerspot would be making a comeback but will be buying a dynadrive(still the best bat i've ever owned!!)

Kid at the club has a Powerbow Atomic from a few years ago and it goes very nicely. As with everyone else I prefer the old chunky Powerbow shape

I wonder who made that 'Super Bomber' then? Back to the GN's I noticed a load of well worn examples in our kit shed last weekend. I'll try to knock up a list of which ones they are, might bring a few memories flooding back.

Re: old GN's in the kit shed, in the interim it looks like someone has been removing stickers...
Anyway, the only one I spotted on a quick recce this weekend was a Scimitar - ring any bells?
