Mars Cricket
« on: July 22, 2012, 06:51:03 PM »

I saw a thread many a months ago concerning Mars Cricket, but was wondering if anybody knows much about them? Their website looks better now than what it used to off the top of my head and their gear doesn't seem half bad either. They have got Middlesex's batsman Scollay using their stuff as well.

What do you guys think?

I think there was some of their gear up on a sale thread recently, gloves and pads. The pads looked quite good for the money.

Have an overseas up here who's been flogging them for 90 quid a pop, a couple of our guy's have them and they fly, aren't the best quality finishing wise but they seem to be a bargain for that price! Don't know whether I'd pay the RRP for them though!

Bats are guns to be honest, theyre massive with nice profiles, huge middles, but you get that from almost every asian made bat. Pads and gloves are quite nice actually, the pads are really light but theyre very different to other pads i have had or did have before, theyre not as strong, you can feel that sort of flimsiness. Gloves are a nice fit, but have weird greyish leather used on them, which indicate they are cheaply made in India/Pakistan, nevertheless they do feel nice. The bag was truly awful, i had the duffle, it fell apart within 2 minutes, very badly made and must have cost them about 20p to make, very bad quality.

Sounds like the Bats are from Mars, and the bags are from Venus!  ;)

Not to sure why you would put Mars cricket stickers on the back of a GM.  At least I now know that GM gear is better then Mars gear as said by a Mars sponsored player lol. The mars bat looked ok but a lot of heartwood on there sorts looked ok as well but nothing that made them stand out.

I assume the bats are Indian made then just stickered in the UK??

Yeah they have 'their own' factory in Pakistan. That's where they are made along with other softs. At first I thought a lot like SIDS?

Kit is decent, I used to have full kit from them. Bat was pretty good as were pads and gloves.

i have their full kit as i got discount from it last year, pads is comfy and protective with towel like strap which is good for wearing shorts, gloves is make of top material, wouldnt say they are the best but not far from that, bats is a mix of good n bad, i had 2 bat with them both arr the classic version, first one was great with the looks and performance nice bat with big edge huge sweetspot, second one was a shocking one with a much worser look for a grade 1 and it sound dead, broken after 2 weeks, ask for a repair but never got reply
