Vibrations felt in the Handle..
« on: July 29, 2012, 11:54:17 PM »

I had bought an SS Torpedo at the beginning of the season. The bat is a light weight with big chunky edges and a long handle.
I oiled the bat and then knocked it in sufficiently. When I used the bat in matches, every time I hit the ball I felt a vibration in the handle. I checked the bat and there are no visible signs of any cracks in the handle. The bat has a good ping with a low sweet spot. The vibration of normally left when the ball hits a lil higher than the sweet spot (not on the stickers).

It is tough to be confident of the bat when it vibrates every time a shot is played.

Is the vibration normal? Is it signs that the bat hasnt opened up yet and it will go away with time? Is there a way to get rid of the vibration? Any hlp/suggestion would be really appreciated.

I had same problem with my SS viv richards. I had it for first season. Later on I put an extra grip and knocked it really well. I would suggest you do the same. I think the SS torpedo is not a bad bat.

A little vibration is normal, but it sounds like you are experiencing quite nasty ones. An extra grip may do the trick here. They tend to absorb quite a bit of the vibration with each grip put on. Perhaps even a little more knocking in to the top part above the sweetspot may help! Also make sure the balls you are using are decent quality cricket balls, not a bat breaker. If an extra grip doesn't feel comfortable, use a thinner grip, but you shouldn't really have too much of a problem there. :)

I will try adding another grip...I feel the bat will break every time I try hitting a forceful shot...not the best feeling when u wanna play the big shots :D
