That is a wonderful profile undoubtedly but would everyone be raving about it if it was made by anyone else other than JM?
For the kind of money he charges for a bat  he should really try to provide a better grip than that IMO.

The grips match the stickers perfectly. I think they look good

this has become a trademark SC grip, might not be to everyones taste but its consistently on all bats he provides. I would imagine its good quality grip too considering the quality and cost of the bats.

thanks for the comments guys.

from a price perspective, this bat is not really more expensive then getting a top of the line english bat shipped to canada.

the grip i'm undecided about - will have to use it to confirm.

i've done the oiling, shoe goo, knocking for about 2 hours, and now on the throwdown stage. it seems to be a beauty and up there with my Thruxton SPS that i got from Asad, which was awesome.

Trust me guys, these are awesome bats. Been playing cricket for over 20 years and have sample most lines. The SCAT has been my best bat with perfect balance, super feel and a big middle that just seams to get bigger with age. My SCAT is now 3-4 years old, with many cracks through it, only surviving by the amount of fiberglass tape thats holding it together and it still goes like a train.

Great Choice and let us know how you go with it.

Is there another brand or maker that has/does a model with that shape?
It oozes power from the pictures but im wondering why its not a profile we see more often?

he is apparently "relatively" cheap in Oz.

the exchange rate stings us badly in the UK.

Agree, In Australia he will be cheaper to those earning Aus wages, for example, My brother in Law to be, 19 years old gone out to Perth to play cricket for their summer has a job paying $150 AUD per day, Nearly £100 a day for someone of his age back home is unheard of!

It's all relative

Sounds like you need to hit from the middle of the bat  ;)

Your spot on, I live in Perth and we have a few young english lads playing for us during your winter and they are getting paid $20 phr cash in hand (12.50 quid) for general labour work that they make a fiver back home.
It definitely is relevant, things are a little dearer here but the wages are better. In saying that, i see that the top of the line Kooka's and GN are nudging 500 quid in some of your specialised cricket shops, which are the same price here. You could buy a good quality SCAT here for 350 quid.

The profile is a more traditional profile with the meat in the spine, not the edges like todays contemporary styled bats. When i put my old SCAT against my new custom made (no name - not yet) the edges are tiny in comparison, however the ping is amazing. No power is lost via the smaller edges.
At the end of the day, the power comes from the meat of the bat and the SCAT has the equivalent, just shaped differently.
