Batting in the nets
« on: August 13, 2012, 12:16:13 PM »

This is probaly a problem that different people sort out in there own ways but just want peoples views and tips on how to convert batting in the nets to batting in the middle, obviously more time in the middle will help but any tips when im batting in the middle, i.e. how not to worry about fielders etc, as I can bat really well in the nets but dont seem as good in the middle

I have the same problem, I tend to get a touch of nerves before I head out. Tends to be as the person batting 3 places above me gets out. So the longer  the next batsmen stays out there the better I will be (more time to calm down).

Then its a case of not swinging at the wide one and edging it to the keeper, again!

two things - firstly, get yourself into the mindset of looking not at the fielders, but at the gaps between the fielders, because that is where you want to be hitting the ball.  Secondly, use the same triggers in the middle as you do in the nets!

I don't particularly worry where the fielders are, look for the gaps rather than anything else and then think of where to place the ball depending on the varying deliveries you may get.

What you could do is set up a few cones or something in the nets to some familiar fielding positions and then look to score inbetween these cones in the nets.

Failing that, hit it over the top for 6 every time then you don't have to worry about where the fielders are.
