Nice! Are you setting about the task with a shape in mind eg drawing your profile and working a template to the edges or just working the willow and it kinda becomes what it is?

Also what tools are you using at the moment? as the shoulders look a bit untouched, not at all a gripe but its a way of a signature... and a bugger it is too!!  I've ended up with 2mm off as i cocked up the shoulders a few times!

I know the first few attempts for me I'd have a shape in my head and i'd just flow into something either weird (edna, gertrude, eleanor) or the willow would have other ideas and just 'need' to be something else   

It would be nice to get a few amateur bat making enthusiasts into a little competition, just to showcase and for no other reason than to see what people can think up and also create.

That's a beauty! I really like the look of the wood, but even more so the profile! Everything just seems to be nicely made, and the handle looks just the way I like it! (Can't be 100% sure, but it looks like a thick-ish oval!) How much do you sell the bats you make for? I would love to start making bats too, but I'm afraid I have spent far too much on gear this season!

I start with drawing the edges on one side, it also dictates what the end user wants, ex: thick edges.

I find shoulder shaping and spine difficult. Also since I do shoulders at the end and the whole focus remains on the profile, I tend to rush it a bit.

Next time will try to be more patient.

Thickish oval handle is because of two chevron grips, as per the end user's request.

Main motive why i started making these bats is to keep in check my fetish for cricket bats:)

Last few years I ended up buying quite a number of expensive bats. At least for now I do not get tempted to buy lovely bats which keep coming up on this forum.

At present it is more of a hobby rather than a profit making venture.
