Nice! Are you setting about the task with a shape in mind eg drawing your profile and working a template to the edges or just working the willow and it kinda becomes what it is?

Also what tools are you using at the moment? as the shoulders look a bit untouched, not at all a gripe but its a way of a signature... and a bugger it is too!!  ;) I've ended up with 2mm off as i cocked up the shoulders a few times!

I know the first few attempts for me I'd have a shape in my head and i'd just flow into something either weird (edna, gertrude, eleanor) or the willow would have other ideas and just 'need' to be something else   :D

It would be nice to get a few amateur bat making enthusiasts into a little competition, just to showcase and for no other reason than to see what people can think up and also create.

Great job fella!

That's a beauty! I really like the look of the wood, but even more so the profile! Everything just seems to be nicely made, and the handle looks just the way I like it! (Can't be 100% sure, but it looks like a thick-ish oval!) How much do you sell the bats you make for? ;) I would love to start making bats too, but I'm afraid I have spent far too much on gear this season! :(

I start with drawing the edges on one side, it also dictates what the end user wants, ex: thick edges.

I find shoulder shaping and spine difficult. Also since I do shoulders at the end and the whole focus remains on the profile, I tend to rush it a bit.

Next time will try to be more patient.

Thank you

Thickish oval handle is because of two chevron grips, as per the end user's request.

Main motive why i started making these bats is to keep in check my fetish for cricket bats:)

Last few years I ended up buying quite a number of expensive bats. At least for now I do not get tempted to buy lovely bats which keep coming up on this forum.

At present it is more of a hobby rather than a profit making venture.
