The End of Puma?
« on: September 21, 2012, 12:58:10 PM »

Puma were not at either the Twickenham or Lord's trade shows, and I have heard some "insider" whispers that they might be doing an Adidas on us and pulling out of the cricket market altogether.

I have yet to see or hear anything about a 2013 Puma range, so was just wondering what other people knew? Are they going to carry on in cricket?

I had a chat with Julian Stansfield a few weeks back, everything seemed as normal then...

Really not sure - it's all a bit "hush hush" with them, it seems.  They do still have some international players, but this has reduced a fair bit in recent years, which is yet more evidence of them maybe leaving us.  Not sure if Kieswetter, Wright etc. are still using the 2012 bats?

I would like to think I am the biggest Puma fan in the world - Clearly not LOL! But I love their gear.. My current match bat is the Calibre 5K which won the Wisden Bat of the year 2011 - I think PUMA make fantastic gear, and clearly many of their international sponsored players are loving it.. B.Mcullum today..

Anyway.. onto your question Paul, PUMA Are certainly in the mix for 2013 and have launched many new bats actually.. A Pulse, Platinum Black Edition and Platinum - They will also continue wit their Karbon range.. Not sure which will become their Flagship model, but probably the Pulse judging by the number of sponsored players using that currently..

Are any of those new bats going to find their way to these shores as well?

CK and LW were still using the 2012 gear against SA where at the same point in 2011 Ben Stokes was using the new gear.

If they will be using it then surely they will this afternoon

I would certainly imagine so, I know the Pulse 6000 Pads were being sold on Pro-Direct Cricket a while ago, in fact I got hold of them from a forum member and sold it on.. These were all locally stocked.

The 2013 Pulse range is being sold officially by Australian Online retailers - My guess as their cricket season starts in the next month or so, Puma would target that market first.. Still fairly early for us to get 2013 Gear..

Liam - Luke Wright has now recently started using the Pulse bat.. which is the 2013 edition, We will surely see that used this afternoon.. CK on the other hand is still using the Calibre from 2012
