Bat Grip Dilemma
« on: October 03, 2012, 10:25:22 AM »

Quick question while I have a minute. Just trying on my 2013 gloves/bat combo and having some grip issues with the top hand. In the gloves it's struggling to grip onto the pretty thin handle. So I need to either:-

1. Add a second grip, first one is a chevron
or
2. Add a double thickness grip
or
3. thinking of change to an octopus grip, as it's 1.5 times the thickness of a chevron and a bit more grippy

Any thoughts, suggestions or recommendations?

octopus are good but chew your gloves up a little. try either 2 grips or a thicker grip. other option is to make the handle thicker via tape or something on the binding. some people prefer that to 2 grips.

yeah funny buzz. It is a new bat and normally thin handles are ideal for me. Much prefer it that way round than getting ryan to trim the handle because it's too thick (GM). Might also be my new gloves need a bit of bending, will try my present pair later.

Going to tape the bottom with some insulating tape to change it from semi-oval to oval and thicken it a bit.

I would be tempted to try a double thickness chevron (bulldog has some)

I think you can get those grips that are half spiral, half chevron - maybe that might be worth a try?

I like a thin handle as well, but use GM Shock absorber grips, feel as though they add a bit of thickness without being too thick, I understand this probably sounds stupid lol

Have you looked at the Gray Nics Half Moon grips?

I was struggling with grip last year and tried an octopus but they are quite harsh! The GN's seem to be a bit thicker and very grippy but not rough so I put them on everything now. Only downside is they're quite soft at the same time so wear a bit quicker but you'll get a season out of them!

Indeed, Paul, the hybrid grips.  I put one on my bat a couple of months ago and it's helped me a lot, so might be a good option for you, Nick - I love the gold colour as well! We have some in stock, as well as the same in black: http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-accessories-c24/bat-grips-c35/salix-hybrid-bat-grip-gold-p435 http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-accessories-c24/bat-grips-c35/salix-hybrid-bat-grip-black-p436

no it doesn't as I had one last year. I did like them but probably wouldn't thicken up the top of the handle. Same for the hybrid grips unless I put them under another grip.

I'm liking the GM control grips at the moment. I'd put one of these on top of your current grip.
