If that's the case I think you should possibly modify the way you're marketing yourself then!  ;)

A charity is one thing, a business selling bat grips and stickers and using 'charity' as it's main marketing point is something completely different and is exactly the same as buying a rose in a pub....! You don't even say on your website what kind of grips they are? What pattern etc? Makes it obvious your playing the charity card to increase your own earnings....

Poor show! Very poor show! Boooooo!  :D :D

If we were able to get the grips at 40p each then the prices would be lower. Unfortunately this isn't the case. Yes the charity have seen the product and love it, we have written confirmation from them that £1 from every sale will go to directly to them.

so, erm, where does the other £5 go?

I mean, if I ant to buy a top of the range super-dooper Salix design with ergonomic bits and everything, I pay less than a five through a retailer.  Basic herringbone designs are a coupleof quid, and Sports Direct do actually very good Slazenger Octoplus designs at a quid...

Oh, one more question - do you make any other products aside from these "charity" grips?

Our costs are 50% through supplier to customise the chevron design. Then the charity and business costings. This is done to promote and encourage support for anti racism.

That does not really answer my question - does your company do anything that is not related to the promotion of your "charitable" interests?

if that is the case could you lay out for us sceptics exactly what your costs are per grip, and how much your profit per item is?

Yes the grips cost us £3 + postage then £1 to charity and then usual business costs tax etc. profit per grip is around 40p.

No the products we sell are sold with the intention of supporting the racial issues in the world today.

To be fair it's always worth outlining these things. Some won't get that someone takes a personal cut but that has to offset them being there.

Ie if the projections is to raise £5000 and a further £8000 goes to one person to keep them in that position is that better than not raising £5k? The venture will always be under scrutiny when its not a registered charity... But don't be surprised that charity also pays well. Having known the ex head of Oxfam and he retired of his work there... not to justify GetaGrip but does it raise more than it would with them being around?

Interesting reading

To take on the Duncan Bannatyne persona once more - one, you are being done over on the manufacturing costs if that is what you are paying, and two, if the charity is your motivation, why not make the grips heaper (and therefore more likely to be sold etc) by doing it on a not-for-profit basis, which would also get rid of most of your business costs.

Its not that I don't like the idea of charity grips - I would not, personally, choose this particular issue  though - but I do abhor the use of "charity" to mask "business" and to make yourself a profit!
