All true, but Vauxhall would probably confirm that the rust was not their obligation ...

Ok here my customer service bit.

How has the bat been stored bats do get brittler with age and 3 years without oiling may have effected the bat. The delaminates is a strange one as it seems to have happened so fast since your purchased the bat.

I have a bat from the same time my trott bat which has served me very well over 4000 runs @47 and looks in better condition and has been used much more however I did refurbish and even but a dab of oil on it at the end of the season

The handle is a strange one they tend to break like that very earlier.

We will fix the bat at cost to the customer as it is 3 year old and has been sold on.

I will help your you with ant self help you want to do on the bat if you do not want to send it back.

Regarding storage...

It was oiled frequently like all of my bats (at least twice a year depending on how dry it appears).

Bats have never been stored at cold damp conditions rather room temperature (away from heating outlet even).

I have bats which are older and terribly dry (like Younis Khan's bat) and they are absolutely fine.

Hope this eases some speculations.

Very strange then mate indeed I have got older bats too and never happens and so fast since you sold it a couple of months without much use too.

I feel your pain it seems strange indeed.

I have been doing a few studies with delaminate I know as most do the cause but prevention and what grain structure is more prone to it and so on.

I have even done work with raw clefts too and a new bat there I have clubbed it to death in one area.

I will say this the more grains I'm starting to suspect has a lower threshold than a wider grain variant in delaminate on maybe due to be stiffer at the start.

Also looking at pressing and grain structure massively in relationship with delamiation.

We all know why it is caused but looking at factors is important

It seems to me that this is all very interesting but who buys something that's three years old and then expects the original manufacturer to address issues with it - come on! It strikes me that there is an element of "lets put it on the forum and shame maker in to doing something".

There's always a risk when buying something second hand, especially when its made of wood and designed to hit hard leather objects. Put it down to experience and move on.

It's ok it really is I have had quite a few talks with Uziar about this bat so surprised  he has not got back to you @khanfm

Part of our customer service was I got a answer on this issue after 2000 hours on a Saturday where the owner answered even though he was out at a family meal.

It is a shame about the bat it really however we can rehandle the bat and fix the delamination

Thank you for the constructive feedback and I appreciate B3 reaching out.

Most comments have shared experience and factors and that helps; further Butterfingerz has reached out so will discuss with him directly.

Thank you all who helped.

It's ok I will override this all.

Sorry but the bat is 3 years old and been through 2 hands there is no warranty.

If you want it fixed more than happy to at the costumes cost.

Cheers

Hi Chaps,

First I saw this was on the 01 March - when I received an email from Cover Drive, which stated he had noticed a few issues after not playing with it for 2 years. The question of a replacement was never mentioned either by CD or the new owner .

As everyone has said, the bat is three years old and outside any manufacturers warrantee. I did not know that the bat had been sold on but this is not the issue.

We will repair the bat at the new owners cost and give it a full MOT while we do it.

I think this is fair.

I think that's the matter closed.

Going above and beyond to help and in the end I think this is very fair. I think the whole thing was maybe overblown a tad on here and in hindsight it should have been dealt with B3 directly.

There may be some confusion here it was delt with b3 directly I told Uziar the outcome on Saturday after he reached out to me telling me the issue.

Sorry if he has not passed it onto @khanfm.

As with speaking with authority I have it from the boss to speak about issue such as this.

It has blown up I gave the answer to Uziar as asked as as @khanfm joined the forum on Saturday and I did not know he had bought the bat till today.

Hope this helps your query.

Thank you Dave, Rich & Doc.

First, this is my first time on the forum after I bought the bat and I appreciate the positive response and prompt reply - for those who asked, I had reached out directly to B3 (Skype and email) before I posted here but didnt hear back but I am happy we have connected through this forum.

Second, this was never an attempt to take a dig at B3, infact I am still interested in buying from B3 and sent a message to Doc to the same effect.

Finally, I would take this offline with B3 but its good to share experience and learn.

Thank you all.
