Article on saving Test cricket
« on: November 17, 2012, 12:09:06 PM »

As I get older and not much wiser, I am starting to see more and more the value of test cricket. Being in Canada, I don't get to watch it often as I don't have the extra money to pay for every single match on PPV.  I've been to Lord's and witnessed a wonderful test match between the WI and England in 2000.

I did a quick Google search on saving Test cricket and an article from the Telegraph came up from 2009. The most interesting part I thought was the idea to abolish ODI's and keep just Test and T20. I'm sitting on the fence with that idea but it got me really thinking...

Thoughts?

I thought the same thing just a minute ago, but the problem is, all formats have good and bad points:

Test Cricket: Ultimate display of skill, the most technically perfect shots imo are from the test arena. Bad point is the length (which is debatable) and cost

ODI: Exciting, but only in the last parts of the game, can drag on for a bit. ODI does have the perfect balance though of patience and entertainment

T20: Very exciting, especially for people just introduced to the game. Lots of ugly slogs and bad shots, and most are in it for the money
