What is your opinion on MSR
« on: November 25, 2012, 02:08:38 AM »

What are your opinions on MSR??
Are they too cheap and low quality,
Are they unreliable?
Does anyone own one and care to give their opinion?

Why not buy one and find out for yourself ? They are cheap enough as you say.

Going off people's experiences and pictures of they're bats they are like many brands. They produce a low grade /net bat which instead of been £100 from kook they're £30-40 (which is great value!). Then they're top grade bats are some of the nicest I've seen (there was a 14 grainer for sale by them the other day!) and range from £80-120 from what I've seen. So yes I would say they're a respectable brand!

they sell some very very nice looking bats at their top end and for those who want to pay £50 they will flog you a bat which for the price of a pair of batting gloves you cant complain if it doesnt look good or perform well.

I think MSR should be judged on their top end bats and not these bargains one that are being posted on here.

If you look at their top end bats they have grains similar to £300 bats from other large brands so at £165 they are a good deal.

Im not sure about the handles though as ive never hit a ball with one.

Have a look at the review of the MSR Tom took to the Shrewsbury net. I tried it, cracking blade for the money and if I was on the look out for a quality bat at the right price I'd consider one.

It's always interesting to see what people's perceptions are formed by company reputations without ever handling the merchandise.

I believe there is a very negative air around MSR in some sections of the cricketing world, yet the feedback from those who have used them has generally been positive. I have a feeling this company's product will only ever get better in the future.

I have yet to handle an MSR but am looking forward to the day I do.

I've had a very good one, and very good value too. Recently did a review on it.

I suspect that some of you will have handled an MSR bat and never known due to the stickering...

Am I alone in finding it slightly suspicious the number of newbie posters who jump straight in to MSR topics?

To be fair, when I had started to look for bats online, the first bats I saw for a good pricing were MSR. I would probably have joined a forum to ask around, but I had a search first, and saw that anyone who asked about them were normally cut to shreds as so many people had asked before. :-[ So I didn't ask haha :P

Possibly so, just seems a tad suspicious to me!
