Shaun Marsh takes debutant Alex Keath apart in his first over. 6 6 4 4 6 1.

Stunning hitting.

That was awesome to watch, but for Keath it was almost the worst debut over you could have...

It's strange that Warne hasn't bowled and the rookie has.

great finish. as a scorchers fan i was a little worried after our bowling performance but some amazing hitting got us over the line. nice to have a close finish and end up on the right side! final should be good at Home.

Warne really messed up there. Not bowling himself and making the rookie do it seemed to me like a senior player not prepared to take responsibility and messing up in the last over as he did wasn't great either. Who was the Stars 'keeper? Hoscombe? He made Akmal look decent.... :D

Peter Handscomb, talked about as a potential Australian middle order batsman.
Hussey keeping for the other ones was interesting.

Warne couldn't of been given more chances in the last over, 1 dropped catch that cost 2 runs, 1 missed run out from the new Akmal and the bowler bowling a no-ball from the last ball of the game. Had he kept his foot behind, Stars would've been through.

except there was only 3 in the circle so would have been a no ball anyway!

Woohoo, Scorchers!

Technically Warne wasn't captain tonight, Faulkner was. Some nonsense about him being in danger of a ban because of slow over rates in past games and not wanting to risk that with a repeat tonight.

Yeah, both White and Warne had already received a warning, so rather than risk a ban Faulkner was named as captain. Clearly Warney was still in charge though.

Guess Warney has been called out on his decision to change the captain to avoid an over rate penalty, just saw this on espn cric-info.

" Shane Warne has been reported for breaching Cricket Australia's Code of Behaviour during the semi-final of the Big Bash League between Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers. The charge was laid because James Faulkner was named the Stars' official captain even though Warne was part of the team during their last-ball defeat at the WACA.

Warne was alleged to have breached Rule 5: Laws of Cricket and Spirit of the Game, after a memo had been sent to all the teams on December 5. Under the heading "Over Rates", the memo stated, "If a team's official captain is selected but not named as captain, this will be considered against the Spirit of Cricket and may attract a Code of Behaviour charge."

In the semi-final, Faulkner was listed as the Stars' captain on the team sheet and went out to toss. Warne, the Stars' official captain, had previously been warned for a slow over-rate violation. A second offence in the semi-final would have led to Warne being suspended for the final.

The time and date of the hearing is yet to be determined"

Warne has had a pretty disappointing couple of weeks to end the Big Bash..
