New bat review
« on: December 12, 2012, 01:34:16 PM »

I bought one of the bats that Dean currently has in the for sale section last week. It arrived Saturday morning, but I was out so didn't have a chance to open it until I got home Sunday afternoon.
First impressions were very good. Nice finish, nice pick up and seemed to tap up well with the mallet.
Very good price as well. The handle is a decent size as well, not a skinny length in your hands.
Bat's a little under 2'11

I bought the bat as a little experiment, as I wanted to take the toe off the bat, and have it flat like on some of the GN pro bats, mainly due to me being short and shortening the length of the bat by a half an inch.

Anyway there's a few pictures to show the bat.

Is that it shortened Tom? If it is, good job on it! :) It looks to be a good stick, I'll bet it will open up to be a real cracker! :D

It is chad mate :)! I think it looks smart too! Seems like nobody else does as they haven't commented :P.

Used today on the bowling machine with little knocking in and it goes very very well indeed for such a cheaply priced bat. Really surprised my mate who used it too who couldn't believe I'd only paid 60 sheets for it

Just goes to show that there are great value for money bats to be had if you look carefully. 8) Always have clubmates complaining about how they are so expensive, but that's because our only nearby retailer sells bats at the RRP! :-[

Oh, and was it a bandsaw you used?

Definitely mate. There is obviously the aspect of buying online and the possibility of not liking the bat. But for a cracking price and a nice pick up it's a nice bat!
That sucks mate! Although some retailers do sell at RRP, isn't ideal.

No mate, handsaw and made sure the line I drew on the bat was followed, took my time and whipped it off :)

Cheers mate, it seems to feel nice when batting as well.
I have to many bats for this year, it's going to be difficult to stick with one :/

It's going to be a toss up between this and the Laver for your match bat I'm guessing. ;) My Lavers are arriving soon I hope, they should be here by the end of this week I think! 8)
