Your Best Bat?
« on: December 18, 2012, 06:44:37 AM »

Inspired by Dave's Laver & Wood topic.

Whilst ALL of us have more than one bat, but which bat was ultimately your best one? Doesn't have to be one which scored you most runs but one which overall had been your best bat till date. Bat with which you felt most confident. Bat which you hold and say, "this is immaculate stick"

So I will begin, for me it is, Screaming Cat Series 1 (replacing Gray Nicolls Powerbow 3 Star from 2009)

Why is it Screaming Cat Series 1? Because everything of this seem to be quintessential. The shape is of perfect shape, profile is brilliant, ping is unassailable and so on.

Picture of the bat;

It would be great if profile pictures can be shared along the description.

Cheers

Don't have a picture but a 2006 GM Purist 808, 2lb 10, 2 grips, 11 dead straight, even grains. Perfect

Dave laver PB was up there, but it was never actually mine. So, a very very close second was my old fusion g1 which eventually gave up on me :(

Don't have a picture but it was my old 2lb 10oz Hunts County Insignia 5 Crown. Lovely bat until it split from the toe up the blade :(

For me it has to be this one - back in the days when I could still wield such a mighty weapon. My word it could hit the ball a long way.

GM Purist Original from about ten years back for me. Only lasted about 18mths before breaking horribly but the pick up and performance was pretty much perfection in my opinion.

Best bat I've owned is probably the 1st one I made, my Wright Cricket thunderstick although I may rename it to boomstick, as it goes boom and the ball goes flying!  Although for bats I've bought, my GN Nitro Extreme is the best.  3lb of sheer, unadulterated violence dispatching the ball to all parts (although the user is often to blame for the failures!)
