Any ideas on how to make a toe grippy without putting a toe guard on?

Indeed, I'd suggest you're tapping it wrong.

Maybe buzz can sort you out ;P

I'll have a quick look through the Bob Woolmer book and see which technique he suggests

How/where/why would the bat slip whilst tapping at the crease?
Have you tried tapping your foot instead?

I tap the bat just before the bowler releases the ball. Something that I feel counteracts my tendancy to do a front foot press

Why would you want it grippy?!

I want it to be Teflon coated, so I can confidently slide my bat in when running.
