Cheers for the replies guys. Yeah I saw that thing with steyn and his NB shoes. Those old school custom made shoes would be great...if only I lived in the UK. Interesting to watch th cricket I see the base of Siddles Asics and they do in fact have the bottom removed and it is completely flat just like Steyn was talking about. Shame they dont make them like that and available in retail stores.

The Asics bowling shoe is fairly flat on the bottom

Cheers those are the ones I will most likely be going with. DO look to be flat dont have those annoying rubber dimples on them.

A guy at my club last year had always used high top shoes but get the speed menace I think. He's had a bad ankle and Achilles for a while and was worried about wearing the lower cut boot, but he actually preferred them to the higher cut boots he used to have!

thinking about buying asics gel advance 4, but im a pace bowler, will they offer much support?

Sorry I am coming in late here but I use Puma calibres and i do land fairly heavily so i would recommend them...never had a problem with these.....

Our best pace bowler uses them. I cringe every time i look at him running in, i wouldnt be able to bowl in them. They have two spikes in the heel that arent in line, so i always imagine there will be some s;lip when you plant your foot too.. I would certainly advise the likes of the 200 Not Outs as offering more support if you dont want a full bowling shoe.
