I had an ex Gloucester player in the shop yesterday for some bats. Wanted 2lb 7 like his GN's so weighed his GN's and they were 2lb 11 !!

Does that mean his GN's had excellent pick up?

Back to my original preferred weight of 2lb9oz

It means that people have a set weight in their mind that they must use when in reality the balance and pick up is more important.

Well my theory about weight is simple 2.6/2.7 or 2.7/2.8 .. pick up should be ultra light and nice balence ofcourse  8)

I would suggest this is due to most companies giving the weight before grips and stickers. The amount of guys I know that think they are using a 2.9 when it is at least 2.11

I like 2.9 finished 2.95 including scuff sheet

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

A lad at our club asked for 2.6oz and thought that's what it was. I weighed it after refurbing it for him and it was 2.9oz.

Think a lot of people pick the bat up first and say "i like this one" and the sales man says "what do you normally use?" And then just agree for the sale.

Thing is, if it picks up perfect it doesn't matter as much about the weight.

I suppose its easier when you know a brand thats basically stickerless ;)

Im a 2.9 finished man as well. Theres still plenty of power in the stick and the timing should be there! 2.8 is a really nice weight as well, I played with the award winning SAF 2.8 from a while back and it just felt perfect in the hands

I have found the pick up and decent balancing the scales and be knocked up by 3oz

I like lout pick ups and if a weight is lost desirable for me is around 2lb 6-7oz but I can go up to 2lb 9oz if it a decent pick up.

I more fussy about the size I hate massive looking bats in my hand sounds odd it I prefer a more slimline profile because some just feel odd like my mids which is 2lb 6oz gripped and 43mm edges but looks and feel odd because in my eyes it looks too big

anything between 2.9 - 2.12 really, although I like to choose on pick-up and feel rather than dead weight tbh.

I've been 2.9 in 2011 (GN Ignite) and 2.9 in 2012 (Kooka Kahuna) but this year I'm 2.10 with Blueroom as it felt the best.

Last season I was 2.8, this season I've gone to 2.9 and actually feel a lot happier!

To be honest, I'll use anything... My current match bat (Hunts County) is 2'13.5 but it picks up a dream, picks up so well for its weight, but my spare is a GN which weighs 2'10. I also bought a SAF over winter which weighs 2'11-2'12, not actually properly checked yet, but for me it's about pick-up. the GN picks up the best, the SAF and the Hunts are similar (but the SAF is a lower middle, so that explains the slightly heavier pick-up by comparison!)

3lb, I used 2,12 the other season and I'm a lot happier with the heavier weight, it feels like I'm not as early on the ball anymore and to be honest my Redback picks up well so I don't notice the difference. I never know how the odd ounce makes much difference.
