simmy's mate Steve Bindman is 65 and still loving it by all accounts. Happy if I manage to do something useful into my 50's. Despite a few injury problems I've actually felt physically better after a game in the last 10 years than when I was in my 20s. Remember when I was much younger barely being able to walk off the pitch! A combination of the hard decks on the knees and some long days  (100 over matches) seemed much tougher, funny enough. Lot to be said for 45 overs a side on soft wickets lol

And as I am sure he will tell you Bindman is just coming into his prime now!

I love the game, and I train like a deamon for it. I've discovered it late and within 3 years i'm party to a club that have the potential to be quite good but has such a clique in charge of it that it's not really going anywhere and relies on one batsmen to dig them out the rubbish each week or they won't post a total above 150.

Change of clubs is worth giving a serious thoughts too though, just go somewhere no one know's you as much so there is no reputation preceeding you and then you can pick if you want to bat/bowl etc etc. It's worked a treat for me, 2009 I was a bowler and nothing else.. come 2011 when I said I couldn't bowl anymore they said 'we have so many quality bats you'll have to wait'.. Sod that, I was better in 2009 than some of them but reputation was that they were 1st/2nds batsmen etc... so away I went to a new club and bang... people just look at you and judge you on merit.. Such a good feeling!!

Now I'm back looking at my previous club having played 2 or 3 divs higher than their firsts yet still you can't break into their clique as they are 'top quality bats'.. So it's not worth it. Move clubs buddy and start enjoying it.
