Could you then just open a shop in Tanzania with a few bits of kit in? I'm surprised batsman don't buy stakes in smaller brands, that way they raise the profile of said brand by wearing it and would surely reap the rewards?

I'm sure other players have stakes in companies as part of their deals, such as Michael Clarke and Spartan?

Wouldn't it make sense for a player to sponsor a company? Put some investment in for free gear and then use their own profile to boost the brand in return for a cut of profits in the ensuing years? It'd be a nice bit of supplemental income, I'd imagine.

So Prior has just tweeted that his new sponsor is going to be announced before the 1st test.

Based on the amounts he was rumoured to be asking, I'll be surprised if its not Spartan.

SS probably have the cash, in India. I doubt they will see him as a viable option without  IPL involvement. And professionals on the books of SS/TON in the UK are handled by Incredible; the UK distributors, I'm not sure they have that kind of cash spare.

If its new balance I might vom.

What was he rumoured to be asking for? I hope it's not NB, that would be disgusting. Would be interesting move by Spartan, considering they are yet to enter the UK market. Cant be far off though.

Either Spartan or NB would be pretty awful in my eyes. What range would he be using if he went to Spartan?

Have to say alot of guys at my club are envious of my Spartan Authority and it was worth the expense os shipping it from Australia as its a beast, Just hoping someone in the uk gets to distribute as they are brilliant bats
