can someone please explain to me about cricket socks and what they actually do?

do they keep you warmer? cooler? support?

what is the deal with them and are they worth getting?

I would say increased comfort, and high wool content removes sweat away from the skin, definately make a difference when spending a long day in the field.

1000 mile cricket socks are well worth a look. I bought some GM fancy dan's that fell apart within a season.

I have the horizon test socks and some kookaburra ones, both of them are pretty good. Never used 1000 mile but a lot of people rave about them.

1000 mile are the best.

Using one pair since last season and they are still as good as they were when new.

More comfortable than Horizion and any other cricket socks I have used

With modern cricket spikes basically being running shoe variants, I don't think a thick styled sock like horizon or 1000 mile is needed anymore.

I wear kookaburra ones which are very similar to a standard sports/tennis sock, and they are brilliant.

Most of the professional players I know wear either Horizon or 1000 mile type socks

They prevent blisters as well as maintaining a good condition for your feet for long periods of bowling. I would recommend wearing them whenever you do play cricket, well worth the £10-ish I spent on mine! I think I got 1000 miles, but not 100% sure. :)

I've got the kookaburra ones and they're very comfy, I prefer them to the horizon socks that I've also got.

They are quite useful, I have 1000 Miles and Horizon Test. Hard to differentiate amongst them as both Srebrenica lovely.

I bought some cheapo slazenger ones last season- they were comfy for the 1 game they lasted before falling to bits, was using running socks for fielding in and normal socks for batting in in the end. Didn't cause me any problems but to be fair with the weather how it was most of the season was spent in the bar anyway! Might have a butchers at these 1000 mile ones for this year though

so common consensus is its worth investing in a pair or two, fair enough.

payday tomorrow, the bank better not get used to my account actually having money in it coz its all going straight on cricket gear! :D

Same here- had done so well not logging on here for a couple of months and learning about shiny things that I now want need and must have!
