Really? I think everyone at my club loves AB and rates him highly... Not sure what commentators think about him as I rarely get to watch cricket live, but I'm not so sure they don't rate him either...

Rahul Dravid gets my vote as the most underrated international player, probably just the case in India though, where he was outshone by the likes of Sachin and Sehwag... The way he played in the series when India were whitewashed in England was superb!

Ha!! Its amazing because if you speak to people like David Lloyd and Nassar Hussain they will tell you he was one of the best batsman ever that could adapt to playing on all continents. They never under estimated him in England.

I think he's just as good a batsman is he was before he was wicket-keeping! I don't know about him becoming as good as Amla in terms of technique and all, but he's just got an incredible eye for the ball, very athletic and one of the best fielders in the game. I really loved watching him bat in the IPL. (The only cricket I get to watch thanks to not having Sky Sports!)

May be in South Africa but if you listen to the English press its all Amla and Kallis... Was Smith and Dale Steyn in previous years. Glad he is appreciated in SA however I just wish he didnt have to wickey because if he had time to just concentrate on batting then he could well become as good as what Amla has. (in my opinion  ;))
I think with AB's back issues and the blooding of Quinton de Kock, AB's keeping days might be over soon.

With the lack of quality spinner, AB's keeping gets JP Duminy into the side. So it's beneficial for Smith at present.

Chad thinks there has been little difference in his batting since taking over the gloves but i think that after being behind the stumps for a long time and then going out to bat (after a few early wickets have fallen) AB has perhaps not looked his fluid self. Just my opinion though Chad  :)

AB's averaging nearly 51 when he plays as keeper in Tests, but it is effecting his footwork.

AB's such a team guy that he'll do anything.

But if de Kock's good enough, I'm happy for AB to ditch the gloves.

As present the number 7 spot is up for grabs. Elgar, Duminy, maybe McLaren as an all rounder or de Kock.

Agreed! Can't believe he has been batting at 7 & 8 in some games, complete waste of talent.

completely incorrect. I don't know anyone who doesn't want to see ABdV. Yes Amla is scary and Kallis is a legend but to say the press don't go on about him is so wrong it's laughable. SA have quality in Amla, Kallis, AB, Steyn and Morkal.. then philanderer as well and they all get the headlines. I for one would rush to see any of them, especially the first 4 in that list.

It wasn't that David Miller's underrated.

The names ahead of him are better.

Smith and Kallis' absence made a spot available for Miller and he's taken it with both hands.

When Smith returns - Faf, de Kock and Behardien are under pressure to retain their places.

Faf needs to improve his output in ODIs.

He's currently only averaging 27. He's a lot better than that.

Id have to agree with right arm rapid.

If Elton Chigumbura, Hamilton masakadza, brendan taylor, kyle jarvis, nathan waller, sean williams and brian vitori had grown up in aus or eng they'd be top class!!
