In my opinion. ..R Dravid

A gem of a batsman....for me the best test product ever....

He always had any1 overscoring him and thus always fell in shadows...

Everyone remembers VVS 281 against australia but noone remembers his partner in crime Rahul dravid..
When sachin scored 186 against new zealand..we had rahul dravid scoring 153 on the other end
When saurav scored 183 in a WC match ... rahul was playing in 150,s

He has done so much...and used to get such less appreciation

Wjen a team needed a WK-Batsman..he stood up
A total gentleman and a true player

Immense respect for him

My top 3 underrated players are:

1/ Jacques Kallis - what a brilliant player! When SA were shyte back in 2004-06, Kallis stood up when even Graeme Smith didn't and scored ton after ton. Respect.
2/ Rahul Dravid - overshadowed in the Indian media due to his old school no frills attitude. A brilliant batsman with wrists of supple rubber. Always used as the Mr fix it in the Indian batting order, I cannot imagine how much better his already spectacular output would have been if he was allowed to settle in one position.
3/ Mike Hussey - didn't make his debut until he was nearly 31....a travesty, because in the 7 years he did play test cricket he was a class act. When Clarke when on his run of triple and double centuries, most didn't even notice that Mike Hussey was at the other end each time with a century plus score himself.

Apologies to Simon Jones, Mike Hendrick, Shiv Chanderpaul, Nayan Mongia, Navjot Sidhu, Jimmy Adams, Damien Martyn, Brad Hodge etc

I though hard about this topic and I was trying to remember someone who perhaps doesn't receive the glory of his fellow teammates, although he is an outstanding performer in all forms of the cricket.

Here is my most underrated international cricket player.

Ajmal debuted at 30 and since entering the international arena has been a very solid performer and is currently ranked fourth in Test, fourth in ODI and second in Twenty20 in the ICC player rankings.

Great minds think alike big fella!

Seriously, I am staggered the media etc miss the obvious so often. Kallis will likely go down as the greatest batsman, if not cricketer of our age. Yet, most of his career has drifted by without anyone outside of SA noticing him. Though, I must say that Kallis is highly respected in Australia...everyone marvels at his ability to keep on keeping on at such a high level. Dravid has always been sold short by the Sachin obsessed media....but when the (No Swearing Please) hits the fan, it is Dravid, not Tendulkar who is the saviour. As for Hussey...he is the living embodiment of every club cricketer everywhere. Unfashionable, unwanted, under appreciated, but fanatically determined. A bloke who willed himself to the top through sheer fanaticism.

I love these guys.

My three would be;-
Angelo Matthews - great allrounder
Misbahul Haq - performs consistently in an inconsistent team
The New Zealand bowling attack - swinging pace attack all of which bowl a heavy ball

Sangakkara ( SL) is the most underrated player in my opinion. Averages 57 runs in test cricket and he was the keeper for a good majority of that. Another point that is worth noting, 57 is higher than Ponting, Tendulkar and Lara.

Anyone can boost their averages on the pathetic pitches Sri Lanka prepare.

Sangakkara averages 62 in Asia with 27 hundreds.

He averages 44 outside Asia with only 6 hundreds. That's boosted by 287 against Zimbabwe.

AB De Villiers for me. Can play every form of cricket and can still get his head down to make a big score...

Really? I think everyone at my club loves AB and rates him highly... Not sure what commentators think about him as I rarely get to watch cricket live, but I'm not so sure they don't rate him either...

Rahul Dravid gets my vote as the most underrated international player, probably just the case in India though, where he was outshone by the likes of Sachin and Sehwag... The way he played in the series when India were whitewashed in England was superb!

I don't think AB is underrated. Everywhere he plays they love him. He's the star attraction of the current Proteas batsmen, along with Hashim Amla.

May be in South Africa but if you listen to the English press its all Amla and Kallis... Was Smith and Dale Steyn in previous years. Glad he is appreciated in SA however I just wish he didnt have to wickey because if he had time to just concentrate on batting then he could well become as good as what Amla has. (in my opinion  ;))
