Best county grounds to visit.
« on: February 03, 2013, 07:01:46 PM »

I became a Gloucestershire member for the first time last season and tried to watch as much cricket as possible even though it was difficult as i was playing every weekend. The main reason i enjoyed it so much was visiting away grounds. I only visited worcestershire, hampshire and leicestershire's grounds. Leicestershire's ground had alot of charm and Worcestershire and hampshires membership facilities were IMO world class.
Which other grounds (especially div 2 teams!) would you suggest I visit this season? I see we have essex away at the start of the season. Worth a visit?
Many thanks!

Dunno when Hampshire finish the work at their ground but from the 3d models it looked awesome when complete  :D. May be worth another visit when its done!

Edit : Hampshire members can only sit on top of the pavillion in LVCC games now , we used to be able to get up there for all county games  :(.

Worcester, when it's not flooded ... the cakes in the ladies pavilion are just yuuummy!  And you can sit right below the changing rooms where the players walk on/off the field

Really like the St Lawrence ground, excellent food and local beer available and you can also sit close to the players balcony and they let you onto the ground during the breaks in play and the groundsmen are very friendly when you talk to them.

Get to Scarborough Festival. If the weather's good, the atmosphere in Scarbados is all tops

Some of the small outgrounds are nice.  Went to a CB40 between Surrey and Sussex at Arundel Castle the other year.  Very nice.

I've heard the Arundel ground is quality. Might have to make the trip there this season

Sounds like a plan for a daytrip to me pal!  Especially if there's any fixtures with Surrey on the go!
