Just out of curiosity what is the cost of this lot if you don't mind me asking? I am all up for having top end gear etc but why are these any different to P1's from Aero? I hear a lot of people say they will last x amount of time but I have had a pair of P2 for 4 years and just wash them every season.

They do look decent and from what I have read offer the highest level of protection but the cost from what I have heard is just mental.

Aero will provide adequate protection, but are basically one size fits all.

Stretton Fox guards can be customised to any size/shape that you desire. And the major difference is; whilst you wont suffer major injury, if a bowler is quick enough you'll still know about it when he hits your P1's, with Stretton Fox you barely notice the impact, as the mallet tests show.

Sod that!! I couldn't see it when it was full let alone letting it fire at my ribs.. pffft, I'm knocking my stumps over myself, and walking off if I come across someone that quick.

I got them purely out of sheer interest and I tend to buy top end gear in everything else so why not these. I've just got some Aero P1's and have been using them and they are really good but I find them bulky so I'm going to be interested to see if these are less bulky.

I don't mind at all. £208 quid. That was with the customization and postage etc. I'll just update this with how it feels tomorrow and after using them in the nets etc. I'm as interested as everyone else to see how they do. I got the full set as I want to do some ribs training so would rather train with protection even though I dont' wear it in games.

if you train with it, why not wear it in a match? Is it ok to crack your ribs in a game but not in training? if your gonna spend that much may aswell use them all the time. Sods law is you'll never get hit there in training but will in a match

that bit I don't doubt. I probably wouldn't in a game purely because I wouldn't want to show any weakness to a bowler. Plus there is a difference between facing the machine in bouncy nets than facing live bowling as you get far more warning in a live game so are less likely to get hit. Of course, that's assuming someone doesn't suddenly turn up who can bowl 85+

Fair enough buddy, that is a huge amount of money for thigh pads but if you have it I always say spend it, I have played a very good standard and been hit by quick enough bowlers and the thigh pad on the P1 and P2 pads and have never noticed it but I have noticed that the inner thigh pads are a bit suspect to anything really sharp, they do look good hopefully someone has these at the forum net on Sunday to take a look at.

Well assuming mine arrive on 22nd :), I'll have mine there. yay. Happy for people to have a go if they wanted to try them, if they so wish.

Well as cricket is my only sport now I've (No Swearing Please) my knee I seem to have more spare cash laying around. Football, Tennis, Badminton and all the fitness stuff was expensive!

Well as George stated, at 0743 I got a knock at the door from the UKMail man... In a box was two Stretton Fox bags.. Containing the Outer Thigh, Inner thigh in one and the other had the arm guard and chest guard.

Initial impressions..

wow
Light
Thin
They look pure quality

So, I think I'll do some pics and then head to the nets and use them :)

Having had a play with a set at IJC, it's fair to say they are the least bulky protection I've come across. The Mates Zero of the Thighpad world.

The thing I noticed with the mallet test is that while you can feel the impact and it's not going to cause a bruise, if you don't have the thighguard fitted properly, you get a bit of a slap from it. I suspect that is fixed by fitting it properly though.

I'll admit I just spent 2 mins smacking myself with a mallet. Had to be done :)

Id' agree with you on the fitting. First min I just slapped it on and smacked myself, couldn't feel anything other than knowing I was hitting myself. However when I 'moulded' it to fit properly it was even less noticeable. Defo going to have a little session just fitting it all properly etc.

Very much impressed though.
