Bats for the season
« on: February 22, 2013, 11:15:17 AM »

After much deliberation I have finally settled on my two bats for the season.

Redback Paradox premium 2
2.12 with an extra grip
6 grains
Had a couple of hits with it in a net and it picks up a tad heavier than I am used to, feels good off the middle but I think it will take a little while before it is fully ready and at its best. Look and build quality is excellent.

Newbery GT players
2.10 with an extra grip
8 grains
Wanted a lighter and higher middle bat so thought this was the best option. Pick up is very good as you would expect with such a high middle. Not had a hit with it yet but will over the weekend. To be honest, even though the price point of this bat is around £50-£60 higher than the Redback, I would say the finish of the Redback and the feel of it is far better.

The Redback looks like a lovely stick. Always been tempted by one...

Still a couple of months before the season. Can't rule out another purchase just yet!

The Redback is a very good bat, and the premium 2 is the lower end of the range. Wish I had spent more on the Redback and less on the Newbery to be honest, but there is always next year.

I'm interested to know how that Newb GT goes......from past experience the Players models perform brilliantly. I think you might find it becoming a favourite...

You may well be correct, I had a hit with a team mates GT 5 star in nets as part of my decision making process and that was a very good bat. I will give a little update on it after the weekend.

Quick update on the GT.
Had a hit in nets over the weekend and it is an absolute beauty. Thought the Redback would be my starting bat for the year, now I'm not so sure.
Great pick up, excellent playability and good middle. The toe worries the hell out of me in terms of durability, but hopefully the knocking in process will look after it.
