My trip to Ryan's bat cave
« on: March 03, 2013, 04:23:28 PM »

Well after deciding to get the nail in the handle ss fixed and my new kg whittle down to a proper bat weight Ryan agreed to meet me on the sunday(thanks for, giving me a tad of your spare time).

Great set up and a very knowledgable person with some of the nicest clefts I have ever seen there was one well if a gn legend is worth 400 then that was worth 600 a real elevenariff looking stonker.

Without doubt my next purchase will be one of his bats saw a few he was making and one for Wilkie and that is massive for it weight and bigger than the bat you sent to copy.

Overall a great little place and good bloke who making some great looking sticks.

Cheers for your time mate

Dave

Get a picture up of that cleft bloody lovely

I could have robbed Wilkes bat or the other trott profiled one he had and this other lightweight beauty he has there..

He is getting some great clefts and producing some great shapes was good to see a bloke with a genuine enthusiasm for, what he was doing.

Not from me mate would have been rude as I was taking his Sunday up with stories.

He was too busy with "THE PIG" there as well.

Haha,  cheers Dave! Was really good to meet you today, even with the parents,  Mrs and "the pig" harassing me!

I'll get some pictures up of that cleft tomorrow when I'm back in the shed.

Dave also kindly lent me his pro DF pads and I got my hands on his lovely wood (insert pun here).

That B3 bat was lovely but the SS pro bat was pronominal for the weight!!

Yours is pretty much finished, just need to remove a little more willow and sand. Hopefully be ready today.

He's the northern version of the stig, can't really say any more than that unfortunately.
