... I've decided this winter that when I come up against a leftie spinner going around the wicket I'm going to bat on off stump. The idea being it means anything just outside off stump is a drive and anything on middle to off is a drive also. Anything wider down towards leg is easy pickings off my legs.
Anyone know or think there will be a obvious flaw with that compared to just staying on middle stump guard?? Any left arm spinners in the house???
Speaking as an ex SLA myself, the biggest flaw in the plan is that lots of lefties don't turn it that much, and your LBW risk is much increased if they consistently put it on off stump. I'd also bowl flatter and shorter if you are on the drive and a few yorkers on middle and leg - they might go for runs, but if you miss, I hit.
That said - these days I wouldn't be able to get it up the other end bowling SLA to you.
