looks pretty acurate to me? lol

i use these one as done ryan and a few other people they are spot on and dirt cheap

why is it that the old style scales are out why couldn't it be the digital. But then why shouldn't it be the old ones that are wrong. Hmmmm questions questions.

I think if anything old fasioned ones are more accurate as long as they are maintained and checked for accuracy every now and then, I think yours are bang on as per the pic...to be honest most people won't even notice the difference of an oz or two...I am sure Amit's mate will love the bat

surely before u say a bat is to heavy? u should use the bat 1st?

if you hadn't weighted it would u have noticed? i think its a shame for people to get rid of an amazing bat just because its 2oz to heavy?

i know its not easy to read big threads like this but as mentioned earlier
The Bat is for friend who requested 2lb 9oz
Bat weight is 2lb 11.8oz
My friend will look at the bat tonight hopefully and based on his feedback i'll let Paul know
my intent of this topic is to have a healthy discussion here and idea of sharing the pics is to show that its a quality product
The bat does feel heavier than 2lb 9oz but its a big bat
If it was for my personal use i would have kept it

I make a point of never weiging my bats when I get new ones.

Ask for a weight, use is, if it feels way too heavy or light then I might lob it on the scales, but I think it just messes with your head if you weight it first up. Especially given your scales could well be off. I'd hope that most batmakers have decent scales and are honest about it

I'd also add that this isn't having a go at anyone who's ever sent back an overweight bat, but it does amaze me when people send it back without having a hit with it first, albeit maybe after confirming this is ok with the maker

2'9...2'11...who cares as long as it feels right?! Or did it feel heavy when you got it? If it didn't then you should be praising Paul for giving you 2 extra oz of mass in the shot for no pickup penalty!

i think it sometimes helps to ignore actual or dead weights on bats and just go on feel and pick up.
generally a high quality hand made bat will pick up lighter than an inferior one

Like I said to you i was surprised how well that picked up. I always think bats like that feel heavier ( mongoose style) because its about levers. Also it's a personal thing and I may be wrong but that's why my style bats don't have the spine running to the toe as I feel it effects the pick up. I messed around with that kind of spine when I started but couldn't get the feel right until I changed it to what I have now. It's interesting as a bat maker as we offer bespoke bats but have a shape that I know picks up beautifully and has great feel but It now puts in the mind whether we stop being willing to create new shapes for people who can't come in to have them made as while we can keep the prices down but when something is wrong its then that we lose money as a business and that changes the way we progress. It's a tough one as I am adamant that we keep offering this bespoke option without charging more if it is closeish to what we have but I must admit sometimes it makes you doubt it.

I have tried using heavier Bats many times in the past and I have shifted on every single one of them. For me and many other cricketers the dead weight f the bat is very important. For other players, it is pick up and they can use bat's that are 2oz heavier.
I think that when we have bats custom made as opposed to buying off the shelf ,you expect the weights to be spot on.
I know Paul goes to great lengths to insure that everything is spot on and he always looks for feedback on areas where he could possibly improve.

For those that don't have the luxury of feeling how a bat picks up and must order online - eg living in a city with only one cricket shop with outrageous prices - dead weight and middle position are very important in ensuring you get a bat that picks up well for you. So I can appreciate where Amit and Cys1 are coming from.

The problem comes because everyone uses different sets of scales, and not many of them will be of good enough quality to be giving very accurate results. And if batmakers are getting a fair few returns from people weighting bats on their kitchen scales then the prices will go up for the rest of us!

The scale things a tough one isn't it. My mate where I grabbed the old weights from had to change his first set of new electronic scales for the shop when he had to change from the old balance scales as they weren't correct and got tested. He didn't know they were and he had paid over �500 for them it turns out they just had a fault so luckily didnt cost him anything extra. But he swore by his old balance scales so to me where do you go. I have put tried and tested weights on my scales to test them and they are right by those so what should I do. It's like shoe sizing I know I am a size 9 in bowling boots but when I used to have Adidas or still buy Adidas I have to buy a 10 so who's right. I don't know the answer as I could buy state of the art scales and they could still weigh different to what the customers reading is.

Bat is absolute beauty, how big are the edges? If this is my bat then i would've easily ignore those extra 2 oz.
