Tush it's not so much the pickup. It's pickup is pretty good but not exceptional light. It's more that the willow is very well distributed all round the bat. It has decent sized edges and minimal concaving. I would say it has an extended middle but it's not immediately obvious because of the relatively low spine height. It's a deceptively powerful bat but with a very generous sweetspot.

I think most newbery shapes are similar and having used a couple I know what you mean although I have never used a thruxton my BB is similar and plays well for 2'8-2'11 bat

Extended is the right word. Wood is righ tbehidn where i need it for Pulling/Hooking and driving.

Tush - yes pitches are astro turf. Almost like indoor surfaces.

I've got a 5* Thrux knocking about. Lovely pick up for the weight and only £100 new cause of a knot on the edge. Only reason I dont use it is cause I've started making my own ones! Although, my current bat copies the edge profile of my trusty Newbery, I just did away with the concaving becuse I'm greedy!

I have seen CA Gold's Thruxton and it is simply remarkable. I rate that bat extremely high, feels brilliant. No surprise why it is preferred over Screaming Cat.

I do like Thruxton shape.
