weigh your helmet. I've seen some really heavy ones, over 1kg but both of mine at 750g or less. Makes a difference if you are out there more than 10 minutes.

I feel like I'm in a shell and lack confidence.

Feels exhausted mainly because I can hear my breathing loud when I wear the helmet. Feels good when I take it off.

I know it sounds weird.

It's all in the mind. If you can hear yourself breathing you're halfway there.

Keep saying to yourself (during the run up) stuff like

"No, ball...I AM YOUR FATHER"..."If you Bowler only knew the power of the dark side"...

Then on the follow through either

"I find your lack of pace disturbing" or "The force is strong in this one"

Jeez! I saw a mate eat a ball off a top edge. It was only an offie he was trying to sweep but it still split his chin. And hence all this thinking about finally getting a lid. But I'm so convinced I'll suck if I wear a helmet. But its time I suppose.

I can't see a direct correlation to your of a helmet and fatigue, unless of course your helmet weighs in at 20 lbs!

Luckily helmets are not expensive, mine is this one; http://www.aswanicricket.co.uk/albion-cd-centurion-cricket-helmet-112-p.asp
Never gets me tired.

I'd keep wearing one, there is nothing to be gained otherwise.
You may need to hit the gym, lat raises is a good start for the neck, or get a lighter lid.
