Home made 5 lb bat to strengthen muscles
« on: April 24, 2013, 08:21:27 PM »

I've seen there are some practice bats which helps you to increase your muscle strength . So I made my own version without spending more money using my old bat.

Not going to actually use this against the ball yet, going to do drills and see how it goes.

Btw duct tape is not directly sticked to the bat (there is another layer between them) ,So when I take this off there wont be any sticky stuff left on the bat.

I strapped a pair of ankle weights to a bat to increase speed . Be careful not swing too hard as it gives terrible rear shoulder pain.

Too heavy and you may do damage to your wrists, elbow or shoulder

Started using a 2 10' GM argon F2 this year , It is bottom heavy than my old bat . Feels much heavier than 2 10'.

Hence this experiment to try and get used to a heavier bat.

Make your handle heavier/thicker on your match bat and it should feel lighter

2 10 to 3lb 5 should do the trick ... I wave one around before I go in and my bat feels great for the first few overs so banishes that sluggish heavy hand feeling you sometimes get at the start of an innings

Cheers for the advice ,already got 2 extra grips on it .
It had a thinner handle to start with.

I would agree! Just make you net/warm up bat 3.5lbs as this should be more than enough difference. No point in going too heavy as you're just likely to injure yourself swinging it about!!
