Match Balls
« on: May 02, 2013, 11:49:56 AM »

Hi everyone there are loads of threads about people dicussing the pros and cons about their league match balls, and I am in need of some help and advice.
One of the players in the friendly team I play with has had to take his bat for repair and was told that we are using balls that are too cheap, they had left seem marks on the face of his bat - he may or may not have knocked his bat in propely, but we now want to buy some reasonably good balls that wont break the bank, from research on this forum I have found the following, and want to know peoples experience or other recommendations - we need about 24.

Tiflex Oxbridge Match Ball £10
Tiflex Oxbridge St James £11
Tiflex Oxbridge Magna £12.50

Readers County Supreme £7.29
Readers Extra Special £12

Woodworm Test Crown 6 for £50 (supposedly half price)

GM Crown £6 (re-match if they have some left)

It is finding the balance between not breaking the bat, and not breaking the bank.

Thank you for any help advice offered

we can do you a better price on any of those Tiflex balls. PM me for a chat about it mate.

They would be the ball i recommend over all the others you have listed. The Magna is an especially nice ball for the money.

For my team they have to last 80 overs, (if we get there) would these be OK for that?

The Magna would, this is the ball we are introducing into the midweek league we sponsor and run. We use the pink ball (naturally) because the pink colour runs all the way through the ball, rather than just a coating on the surface.

I've ordered 12 of the Oxbridge Magna, and will do a review as soon as we have had a good go with them

Are these made in White, we are dying here in the US playing with crappy balls that break bats?

Hi everyone, I've just ordered another dozen balls from Vitas, the Tiflex have been really well received by all the guys in the team, they seem just the right balance between price and quality.

Depends entirely on how much bulk Kev, also which ball. The Magna is probably the most popular seller, although this may be due to all the colour options: white, red, pink and yellow.

We have been using quality cricket balls at very good prices and they are no bat breakers. I can give you the supplier details if you want.
Many leagues here in south florida are using those and everyone seems to like.
