Allrounder Spikes
« on: May 26, 2013, 08:04:53 PM »

Hi guys,

Just looking for a quick recommendation. Need a new pair of spikes and am looking for something suitable for an allrounder. Can't really afford separate bowling spikes.

Anyway, had been looking at these

http://www.owzat-cricket.co.uk/acatalog/2013_adidas_22_yards_MID_IV_cricket_shoes.html
http://www.owzat-cricket.co.uk/acatalog/Puma_Iridium_2_Full_Spike_cricket_shoes.html

And was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of them.

Are the Asics Gel Gully 3s that much better than the 2s?

Cheers

The gel gullys are great but I'd say the 2's and 3's are pretty much identical except for the colour and a couple of cosmetic differences.  Here's a couple of photos for comparison.

Cheers for that mate.

What's the sizing on the like? Read somewhere that with Asics it's wise to get half a size up? Any truth in it?

I have the puma tricks spikes and I'm an allrounder and they are superb and very comfortable.

I haven't found that.  I am a size 9 and they fit like any other size 9.

I can vouch for these spikes as well. Seem to hold up well and not wear too easily either. Personally tempted to pick up a pair of Adidas Howzat FS spikes though.

I'm going to stir stuff up and say I always have to buy my Asics spikes half a size bigger. I buy asics in a 9.5 whereas all my other shoes (including a pair of Puma spikes) are a 9.

It does make sense to get your sports shoes/trainers/boots at least 1/2 a size bigger than your normal size due to your feet swelling when they get hot during exercise.

I have the Adidas ones but I think they are more suited for batting and keeping and not so much bowling even though it says they are made for bowlers  ;)
