Removing 3 year old(or longer) Scuff Sheet.
« on: June 19, 2013, 09:04:19 AM »

Hey guys, seeing as my old Keith Dudgeon players snapped, dad bought me this used net bat for $50 aud, just to use for a season. The sticker were horrible and peeling so i took them off, I spoke to Vitas and should have some stickers coming in soon, and my problem is that there is a extratec sheet fitted over the side stickers and in order to take off the stickers i will need to take off the extratec. Its been on their so long and im afraid of the bat peeling, any advice. P.S. I've already seen many forums about this, but i think because mine is so old it might be a bit different.

heat it up with a hairdryer and then pull across the grain rather than up and down the grain. you can also use a blunt knife or something similar to help pry the scuff sheet off rather than pulling it. you may get a little tear out but hopefully nothing that wont sand out.

Always use the Hairdryer as said by John.

While working away I decided to take off some edge tape, did one edge without a hairdryer and it splintered and is still sticky. Then realised that premier inns have a quality hairdryer and the other edge was perfect.

The edges of my bat take a beating, the middle is near enough new.

This is the best advice. Also take your time and don't try to rush it

Thanks all, i used the hairdryer trick, came off so easily. Also, i used some methylated spirits and thick grit sandpaper and rubbing my finger along the bat to get the adhesive off. Thanks for the help guys, this forum never fails me ;)
